I have thought through much of the differences and the pluses and minuses. My concern is the on track dynamics. I came from karts before SRF. I was used to the indy car like precision they provided. It was one of my considerations when heading to SRF. Less weight than SM and with similar horsepower it provides much more responsive driving dynamics.

Who here has come from some form of racing that had more responsive driving dynamics like some type of sports racer or open wheel car? What has your experience been? Is there something you like about the driving response of this better? What beyond just parity makes the on track experience good? From race to race some times SM has a tighter race, and them some times SRF, so I think the parity part really is a wash.

SRF to SSM due mostly to the expense but also competition. Dynamics, more properly kinematics, of a purpose-built race car are incomparable to a production car running rubber bushings, etc. SM, and particularly SSM, are popular because of their wide handling sweet spot, inexpensive parts, reduced maintenance, and more emphasis on driver skill. Here in the Mid-Atlantic region, there are large SM and SSM fields that assure competitive racing, very small F-V/F/C/E/A fields, and moderate SRF fields, so if you want to race other people at or above your skill level, SSM and SM are great.

I'm currently running FV in the northwest, but class numbers rarely exceed three on track at any race, Most races just me or maybe one or two others. So. I'm going SM next year where we see 20 to 30 on track at every race. For me, it's about having cars to race with. Car dynamics are secondary, but driving an SM isn't much different from a Vee, its all about getting through the turns faster than the other racers, whatever it takes to do that, then, much like the FV, spend big bux on the last few horsepowers
