In order to preserve the integrity of the SMAC it is imperative that I resign from this body.
I believe the current members are good for the class, and definitely have the best interest of the class at heart. I feel that Todd Lamb is an excellent chairman, he keeps the discussion pertinent and succinct, and we were generally able to reach consensus in record time.
I enjoyed my few years of service to the class, was generally impressed with everyone’s motives and sacrifice of time. I did not observe anyone in particular pushing an agenda that would serve them personally.
From my side there are a few things that I championed and I was pleased with the outcomes.
- Dropped seat (Safety for tall drivers) and no I do not have a dropped seat in any of my cars
- Tape allowed on radiators – obvious
- NA 1.6 allowances – this has helped bring the NA 1.6 closer in parity
- NA 1.8 allowances – the NA 1.8 is now a formidable adversary for the NB 1.8 and VVT cars.
I have been pushing the agenda with Hoosier of getting a tire that has less grip (to be gentler on sub frames and hubs) and also to provide more heat cycles. This will not be as simple as it sounds as there are always compromises to attempt to satisfy both goals. I have also actively pushed for a rain tire that provides more than 1 race cycle. These tire discussions with Hoosier are ongoing and I am sure there will be timely notifications from the SMAC moving forward.
It was an honor to be part of the SMAC group and serve the class. Thank you
