Even with a lot of key names missing this year, like Bolanos, Rollan, Carbonell, Steyn, Collum, Holton, and a few others that typically race this event, we still have a pretty star studded line up!

In Alphabetical order:

Alex Acosta
Andrew Charbonneau
Blake Clements Per MazdaMotorSports "
we received feedback from Blake Clements, an elite Spec Miata competitor" Blake, sorry, this is a smack thread.
Christopher Haldeman
Craig Berry
Dillon Machavern
Elivan Goulart
Jamie Tucker
Jason Connole
Jim Drago
John Davison
John Wilding
Jonathan Goring
Marc Cefalo
Mark Gibbons
Michael Carter
Nick Leverone
Preston Pardus
Todd Buras
Tom Brown

See the practice times, they may be on to something.

Congrats to Michael Carter,Preston Pardus and Chris Haldeman on the podium finishes! Very deep and competitive field.

Tough race through the entire field, more contact then there should have been, but overall just hard racing . The 173 crashed very hard, I don't know who was driving, but assume they were ok

More bump stop dq's today :( Tech team is here. They put an obd2 data logger in my car and a few others. No idea what was done in tech today,  i was busy changing rear knuckles and scaling cars :(

I moved up two spots tomorrow in qualifying.. I had a terrible session which really screwed up my team mate Craig, sorry. Left him in the kill zone and he had a few new dents from this. This class is getting harder and harder every year, the top 20 at this race are all fast.

Good luck to all tomorrow, hopefully no carnage

I will second Jim’s statements. This class is so deep with so many talented drivers with great cars. It is really a testament to the smac and crb. All the cars are closer than ever reguardless of builder ect! I was the lone man out today. Hoping tomorrow willl be better finish for me but 3rd in this field is like a win anywhere else!!!

Congrats to the podium finishers yesterday, unfortunately I got to watch the race from the sidelines, and it looked like a lot of fun. We were chasing problems with my car all weekend and finally got the largest issue figured out after Q2, and just before the race; and I think it would have been really fast; more than likely a top 10 car. Unfortunately, I was the victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and got taken out before turn 3 on lap 1.

This was my first National race, and it was amazing being at the track with all the big teams, and meeting some of the really fast guys that I only get to read about on the forum. (I’m more of a lurker than a poster).

Most everyone that looked at the car says that it can be clipped, but I’m still on the fence on whether to just take my time and transfer everything to a new chassis. Truth be told, all I thought about the entire drive home last night was how I can’t wait to get back out to race again. We are so blessed to have the community we have, there is no other class like SM.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice this weekend on fixing my issues, specifically the guys from Advanced Autosport who helped me figure out my braking issue that I’ve been chasing for almost 2 years. Thanks to Jeff Labounty and Cory Collum of AutoTechnik for swapping my diff to only figure out that I had an issue in the front of the car that was causing my constant wheelspin. Finally, thanks to Todd Buras for giving me pointers and ultimately helping me diagnose the wheelspin issue.

Most of all, I want to thank Phil Pierce of Pierce Race Development for the help this weekend, he stuck with me till 11 on Thursday troubleshooting the brakes and got the front upper sway bar mount welded back on the car just in time to make the race. The car would have been a real weapon during the race if it had made it to lap two and beyond. :)

Everyone please be safe out there today, and have fun. I’ll be looking for a live stream and will have Race Monitor tuned in so I can try and catch all the action.

I’ll post the video of the wreck later when it gets trimmed up, it’s no Danica Davison Daytona action, but it’s my first real impact and footage of how well built these little cars are.

Well, I thought I had done about every stupid thing that I could ever do in a SM by now. Well, today I officially raised the bar to cap off s not do great weekend. I managed to loop the car on the out lap I knew we needed heat and just over did it! Of course I didn’t bother to pay attention in the sauna of a drivers meeting.. I didn’t advance and take my spot back... and by the way, I was seventh .. I started 11th, but since been told I should have gone to the back. I probably should have any way as I think I drive the first several laps in disbelief and by the time I started to drive, I realized we missed something as the car was really loose, so I pulled in to watch the finish.. best thing I did all day.

Congratulations to Preston and micheal on two flip flopped 1-2 finishes and Todd Buras. Proud of the guys, we managed to get four of the five fastest segments, I picked up the only one that requires no skill, just draft and motor. Michael carter was fastest in segment one, preston, todd and craig Berry were fastest in fastest lap and segment 2 and 3.

No carnage that I saw today, the young guys are hitting it hard right now! We

Jim, don't feel too bad. I saw the pole sitter at a Road Atlanta Runoffs loop the car leaving the grid and at another Runoffs pace lap saw a formula driver put his car in to the fence at turn 5. Of course, I had one of my prod drivers pull up on the steering wheel at the start of a race and pull it right off the splines. It was exciting since he was on the pole and the entire field split him before turn #1. Jimmy Johnson did the same thing and he's a professional. And you didn't t-bone the pace car like NASCAR driver Tommy Houston did in 1988 at Darlington on pit lane. Houston continued in the race but they had to get another pace car.

Things in all racing seldom go as planned.

More bump stop dq's today :( Tech team is here.

So what are they finding with bumpstops?  Not genuine Fatcat?  Cut too short?  Not made of the correct material?

Congrats Preston, Carter, and Todd! The yong guys are really rolling! Preston, Carter and Selin are very fast. The car Selin was in was on Sat., was slower than mine with the caliper locking and fender digging into the tire and he was still very fast!

Thanks to York, Kyle, Robert and Jim for giving me a really good car all weekend. Jim and I both looked like we had never qualified for a race before, and paid the price Saturday with all sorts of damage. Everything was good Sunday, just too good a field to start 17th. Had a ball running with Holton, another young guy who can wheel it! I haven't sat in a race car since June, and it was nice to get back in the groove.

Hope to see everyone at COTA
