What is the correct gasket to use for the downpipe to SD exhaust connection?

Yep, OEM or equivalent, the hard ring type, not a flat gasket shaped like the flange.

The newer style downpipes have a different flange size and bolt spacing than the original downpipes from the '90's.  So if you buy the hard gasket from Mazda or any parts store, it will likely not fit well if you still have that original downpipe.  I had to modify the gaskets slightly to get them to fit well until I bought a new downpipe from Mazda.
