My point was ... yes we can all give Danicant shit for not performing up to her hype, but she has still done so much for the sport. And, you wont see the affect she has until the next 5-10 years when all the girls she inspired, are old enough to get behind the wheel of a car and not a go-kart. I expect in 5-10 years, we will have a winning female driver in the Nascar Cup Series.

Ummm.... how about second rate drivers like Michael Waltrip that couldn't win if you handed him a trophy?!  Best marketer in the business.  Seriously, Danica is a second rate driver but she is being held to a way higher standard than the other 30 second-rate drivers on any given weekend.

My post is/was talking about Danica and her accomplishments and only as a rebuttal to when people start to claim how good, great and or accomplished her career is/was, you fill in the blank.   Bringing up other mediocre drivers doesn't change the fact she is in fact VERY mediocre. If she was a man, she would have likely never made it to Indy car and 100% would have never made it to Nascar.  I don't dislike her, I'm not being sexist.. I think Simona and a few other females are more deserving, but Danica is better looking and American. Racing unlike stick and ball sports,  the best and most talented aren't always those who make it to the top. Neither this post or the previous post were anything but fact.. not sure how anyone can really disagree. She is more talented than 90-95% of all of us, but in the top series, in the best equipment, she is generally not competitive and runs around in mid pack or worse.

Danica could very likely win the Indy 500 this year. She has as good of a shot as anyone in the field. Plain old luck is as big of a factor at Indy as skill.

 

I was at IMS last weekend for qualifying. There was a pack of young girls everywhere Danica went. Good on her.

Marketing value and being good at business is more necessary than driving capability in top level racing these days. Just take a look at the Williams F1 Team for an extreme example of how secondary driving skill is compared to $$$ lol.

FYI, She was born in Beloit wisconsin, the home of Advanced Autosports and grew up in Roscoe Illinois, same town that I currently live in.
