Buying an enclosed trailer...want to winch up the car vs crawl out. Don't want to spend a fortune!

Thanks -

Bill

Get an 8-10k winch. If your car is 2200# more or less you'll need a bit more umph to pull it up. A cheap 3k winch likely won't cut it. The power required depends on the angle of the ramp. You can get a winch in the under 5k category but most of them aren't heavy duty. If you knock a corner or two off you'll need more power than when you can roll. If you go enclosed you can't have a couple of wreckers drop it on the trailer so you'll need something to drag it into the box. Some choices are the Smittybuilt XRC 10, http://www.smittybil...ct/index/45.htm you can find for about 400 bucks, all in. The Rough Country is a pretty good deal as well, about 300 for a 9500# winch.

Thanks....winching up a 2050lb Miata.....think 3,000 should do it....I'm not puling a jeep up a canyon wall.....Thinking $100 bucks or so should do it. Hell, if I was younger I would push it up....
