Brake Failure

The brakes worked just fine throughout the day at ECR during all track sessions. However, when getting ready to depart the paddock after packing up, the brakes started making a grinding noise. The noise was exactly like that of a backing plate scraping along the rotor. Thatâ€™s actually what I expected to findâ€¦.that the caliper had frozen on the pins and the inside pad had worn down to the backing plate even though I still had 50% left on the outsides.

At least you got off track before you lost brakes. Nothing scarier than having a looong pedal at speed.

Turns out nothing was wrong. Just race brakes after cooling down. I'm still running the same pads and rotors. Once I got them back up to temp everything was fine. ECR is much tougher on brakes that MSRC. Lots of 1500-2000 ft straights followed by 2nd gear double-apex hairpin turns. MSRC straights have 3rd gear turns at the end....much less braking going on.
