Seriously, how is this forum not in use? Who's building or returning this year? I had a great year and managed to keep the shiny side up, so all I have to do is brakes. Looking forward to going cheap most of this year. Who's in? What are your nefarious plans? :D

Yeah I remember watching that and thinking "Oh that's gonna hurt!" :( here's hoping you can get it together. I have a few work conflicts this year, hence my inquiries into NASA too.

I will be running SSM again this year for some of the MARRS races, enduros, and local regionals. Getting the car fixed up and repainted after some damage at the VIR 13 hour race. Looking forward to the coming season!

Welcome to the SSM madness, Scottie. It's going to be interesting watching you through the windshield instead of at various vantage points around the track this year.

Oh, and remember that the brakes on the SSM are better than the tow truck. Sometimes, at least...

Rob,
Scottie is supposed to be headed over my way to get some more practice at Summit on my iRacing setup! So we will both be watching him through the windshield!! LOL

Hahaha! I really hope my brakes work out better than the wreckers. To this day, I still am not scared of anything. I thank you for that Rob.

Mike, I should headed over the weekend after new years. Does that work?

Im excited to be racing with you guys. Maybe one of you can teach me how to work the pedal on the left and the stick looking thing in the middle.

Mike, make sure that you teach him the "quick" way through 10. You know, the one where you brake early, ride the rim, and wave politely at your elders when they pass you.

And Scott, remember, no passing the wrecker or any car with orange on it...

HA! Or maybe I can use the shortcuts that the wrecker uses. Ill just have to use my speedracer buttons so I can go off road.

As for passing cars with orange on them, that's impossible. I heard they have an extra cylinder!

It happened so fast I could only hope for the best. I was happy to walk away but not so happy to have to build a new car. Tell her thank you for taking the picture.

Tomorrow is the annual planning meeting for WDC Region SCCA. At this meeting the rules for region-specific cars are presented for approval. The 2010 specifications have only one change. That is...we changed 2010 to 2011. Don't you love being in a class that isn't always in crisis?

We are organizing a dyno day at York Automotive. I will keep you advised on the date(s). Our Administrative rules have changed a bit. These Administrative Rules apply only to WDC SCCA MARRS. This year in order to insure real parity at the top, any car finishing in the top 10 in a Sunday race has to be sealed in the current year at York Automotive. In 2012 this will rotate to RP Performance if they desire. If you are not in the top 10, your current seal is still valid for 2011. All sealed cars are eligible for MARRS 1 regardless of the date/place of sealing. But remember that if you finish in the top 10 on Sunday, the seal must be done in 2011 at York Automotive prior to the next MARRS event.

Don't forget that there are several NASA races on Feb 18(VIR), Mar 26(VIR), and Apr 9(SP)that provide a good tune-up for MARRS (Yes, I go both ways) I am working on a sponsor to provide a free NASA membership and Competition License for anyone who enters either the NASA VIR race in Feb or MAR, providing that the entrant was not a NASA member in 2010.

I'll report back here if there is any news from the planning meeting tomorrow.

Several interesting developments for MARRS and SSM:

Entry fees for MARRS events will increase to $260, still a bargain in today's environment. Compare it to other tracks and sanctioning bodies. The Region operated at a loss in 2010 and we can't allow that to continue to happen. Every expense was deliberated and many were reduced to control the increase in entry fees. I have never been to a MARRS annual planning meeting where the spirit of cooperation was so evident.

SM5 will be added to the IT7, ITA, SRX7 run group unless there proves to be too many SM5 entries. STL (whatever that is) was added to Small Bore.

WDC will have a National in 2011. How does this affect SSM? Well, there will be two regional run groups and SSM is included. This will be a MARRS points race for SSM only, and thus we will have one more points race than everybody else in 2011. We still only get two drops. Fee for this race is $260 for regional entries, and part of this fee may be dedicated to a prize fund. Fee for National entries is $330 since they get more track time as mandated by the GCR. The paddock map will be different for the National and is yet to be determined.

All MARRS run groups will have 18 laps for the MARRS Sunday races.

Better trophys, and trophys for top 5 finishers in SSM (and other groups with more than 15 entries) are planned in 2011.

SSM technical specifications for 2011 were approved and as previously stated, there are no changes for 2011. Administrative rules were also approved. I will try to find a website to host the Admin rules so you can get a copy prior to final approval by the NEDiv Executive Steward and SCCA National.

All seals for MARRS SSM racecars are still valid for MARRS 1. HOWEVER, if you finish in the Top 10 in the MARRS 1 Sunday race you must have a seal dated after Jan 1, 2011 conducted at York Automotive prior to MARRS 2. The same goes for subsequent race weekends. If you finish in the top 10 on Sunday your seal must be dated after Jan 1 and it must be done at York prior to the next MARRS weekend. Obviously if you come to any MARRS race with a new seal from York you won't have to worry about this rule. This change will insure absolute parity at the top for SSM.

My SSM #11 will be for sale. I am currently building its replacement. Look for a classifieds post if this all falls together prior to MARRS 1.

Just following up, Jim. Are the rules going to be posted anywhere soon? Even though the shop is buried with snow, I need to get to work.

The car specifications are identical to last year. Get to work. Engine sealing from 2010 will be valid at MARRS 1. Remember though, that any car that finishes in the top 10 in the Sunday MARRS 1 race will have to have a seal dated after Jan 1, 2011, and the sealing done at York Automotive BEFORE competing in your next MARRS race. Personally I think that every car should be retuned at the beginning of every season, so if you expect to be a top 10 finisher you should get your work done at York. Look for at least one date, probably a Saturday in March, for a dyno day at York.

The rules are currently going through the tedious SCCA approval process. They will be posted to the WDC SCCA website when they receive final approval.
