Anyone try the Necksgen yet?

Has anyone had a direct experience with the new Neckgen? Any pros or cons?
I am still trying to decide what head restraint to buy. The Necksgen seems to have better clearance to the rear which has been an issue with the Hans. I put in a new seat this year but rear helmet clearance is still tight but doable with the Hans but would be better with the Necksgen.

I just bought one a few weeks ago.. I"ve only driven one DE day with it but I really like it.. I'll be back on Tues into Reno if you want to come over and look at it and try it on you're more than welcome.. ( I can also tell you where I got it - got 10% off)

Dennis, I don't know what style seat you have. The Defnder or NecksGen offer considerable more lateral force reduction than the HANS. I have a non Halo seat (have a UltraShield Pro road race seat) & use a Defnder because looking at the force/load numbers available I overall feel more comfort knowing without the Halo while still having approx 85% reduction in lateral forces from the Defnder/NecksGen I'm in safe position.

Reviving this old topic for the latest Necksgen REV version. My neck is not particularly long yet the tethers are significantly too short, leaving the device hanging more than an inch over my shoulders. I'm using the pre-installed Hans mounting points in the helmet but they are the correct distance from center-rear. They may be a bit higher than the REV specifies but even if that were changed I don't see how this would work. Too bad because I really like the smaller design. Hoping to get a call back that a longer tether is available but I doubt it based on their web site.

Anyone else using one of these yet?

I don't have the REV, I have the original design, and really like it.  What you describe is weird.  Looking at the pics on the web, the tether doesn't look that different dimensionally from what I have.   

 

It DOES look like they can offer a different length tether.  did you see this?

Nope, came up just short under "sizing" and no mention under FAQ, and mostly marketing crap about their great tether design everywhere else.

I moved it to an old helmet with lower mounts and it was getting closer. Not at all happy with the tether through the hard edged connector as the "slide" point. Crude, course and easily improved (by them).

I had the hans and switched to the Neckgens last spring. Love it! Easier to get in and out of car and overall just more comfortable to wear.

I miss understand sometimes.

Yea, occasionally a phone is not the ideal way to navigate sites. I saw it under Parts with a price but didn't notice that the button said Select Options rather than Add to Cart, and stupidly didn't tap it just in case. In my defense, the size-selection chart online and in the packaging don't mention it and likewise the installation and fitment instructions that came with it. So now I need to drop another $29 (plus S&H) for a strap worth $1 in materials (plus certification) and wait for it to show, rather than trying to get the correct part the first time.

But, glad to hear that someone is pleased with theirs, I look forward to a less annoying and cumbersome device that still works.

I looked at them closely at the PRI a few years ago. They looked very nice and well designed.

I have the original Necksgen and really like it. A buddy just picked up the Rev earlier this year and only has good things to say about it.

 

I found it much more comfortable than the Hans.

I have it LOVE it.

I have one, ran it all last season, originally had a first gen Hans.

I leave it attached to my helmet, get into the car with it on, and still do belts, net, etc., not something I could ever do with the Hans.

yep.  i do the same   leave hnr attached to helmet, put on helmet and hnr. slide into car and buckle in.

I switched midway through last season from my original Hans to the Rev NecksGen.  I, too, leave the HnR attached to the helmet, put on helmet and slide into the car (Halo seat) and belt in. 

I feel a little more direct pressure on my collar bones/chest from the shoulder harnesses than w/Hans due to the shorter reach of the framework but that's the only real difference in feel that I notice. 

The range of motion turning my head for visibility seems similar between the two and the side to side movement is more limited w/NecksGen (as expected).

 

IMO, you can't go wrong with either choice, the NG is just a little lighter, goes on a little more easily and takes up a smaller footprint in the bag.
