Considering registering for this event but am only a NASA member with a comp license. Used to be an SCCA member back when I used to auto-x. I have a couple of questions. It looks like my license is good however:

1.) Do I need an SCCA logbook? Do I have to go to tech and get one if the NASA one isn't sufficent?
2.) Do I need to purchase a full SCCA membership or is there a weekend deal for non-SCCA members?
3.) How do I reach anyone who might be interested in helping me do this as the SCCA websites are kind of lacking in the ease of use department... No flames please. I would like to come race with you guys and I promise that I am not fast..
4.) Does the enduro cost extra or is it included? Is it a free for all as far as classing is concerned?
5.) It appears I need weight stickers for my car. True?

Sorry for all the stupid questions. I want to go back to mid-ohio this year and this looks like a good opportunity but the runway and dollars are short to get this done. Just want to make sure I have a better understanding of what I might face as a NASA license holder.

Thanks

Matt I would go to Motorsports registration.net find the event and email your questions to the Registrar but this is my reply. you can race SCCA with a Nasa License. I am not sure if you need a SCCA log book but i doubt it. I think you can sign up and they will look your car over in tech. I am pretty sure you do not need a membership either.
the enduro is extra but its only 50.00 pretty cheap. You will need wt stickers but in a pinch you can use tape and a sharpy. you are classed in the enduro sm's run the same class.

I will be there so look me up or paddock next to us we will take care of you. Frank.

Generally you can race the scca regional on your nasa license, you will need to have your car teched, cage stamped and a log book issued, as well as a get your helmet inspected and a helmet sticker issued. I would plan to be at track Friday evening to get all those things done.

I have been missing in action this season, but am getting the car out for this event. What new rules do I need to deal with for my 1994? RP back to 45mm, weight reduction to 2350 (ye'ah, like I can get the car that light) and weight decal near class name? Anything else?

Squirrel is making her famous Carolina pork BBQ. John Guthrie is letting her plug in the crockpot at his paddock. All SMers are welcome to stop by at the Saturday lunchbreak and get a sammich*.

Have been using one since 2007.

Jerry - I don't think $50 is enough to award me the points championship on just one weekend? If so, you're really cheap!

That's really bad news. Obnoxiously bright green paint is worth at least 1 second per lap just in it's ability to distract my competitors. I'm sure that someone will try to knock the green paint off the car unless SM has become a much friendlier place over the past year. :prayer:

The Bulwinkle Report:

The good: Lunch was pretty good, and spending time with friends and family, that was fun.

The bad: A friend finds the wall on lap 2 of Saturday qualifying and is done for the weekend.

The ugly: Saturday morning qualifying. Damp slippery track, puddles in the apex, oil spewing SRF, and a truly dismal effort on my part leads to pitiful grid position for both sprint and enduro races.

The weird: Saturday's enduro was one the strangest races I've ever run. About 20 minutes in the race goes FCY to extract car from keyhole. Pace car is dispatched and gives me a point-by on back straight.. Me and another SM charge around at near race-pace trying to pick-up the field which never happens because pacecar pulls in after one lap, never picking-up the leader. I'm on the back straight when spotter Squirrel suggest that I might want to go because it's green again (no flagger at end on backstraight so I didn't see the yellows drop). About 10-15 minutes later race is FCY again due to two SFRs making an SM sandwich on the backstraight. Squirrel describes it as looking like slow motion as the three cars, locked together, spin into the wall. Four or five yellow flag laps go by while clean-up takes place. Pace car actually picks-up the leader, which is a SPO Mustang running 1:36 laps, who manage to lobby his/her way into the field, and just lapped me. After the 4-5 yellow laps checkers fly at the entry to the carossel, mercifully ending the race 15 minutes early. Had it gone green I would have been a sitting duck and suffered additional humiliation. I was told after the race one of the tow vehicles on course broke a tierod end, so the race was called. At least lunch was pretty good.

Still have the Son of Sam Quad at Nelson to redeem myself before a long winter.

PS: never paddock in the grass at Mid-O if rain is forecast. (You would have thought I had more sense.)

This was a fantastic event but for the usual rain at Mid O when they forecast only a 30% chance. Congrats to John Guthrie for his Win on Saturday. I was able to get the pole in the Saturday morning wet conditions. John I think was starting like P 7. I had led some laps and then Kyle and I got together in T1 when Kyle was passing me for the lead.

Sorry Kyle, but even in NASCAR team mates spin each other Lol. John took the lead and never looked back. I was able to get back to P2 but had no chance of catching John.

The Enduro was fun while it lasted. Kyle Webb was on the way to a big margin of victory in the Enduro, when two back marker SRF's decided to block each other and ended up getting together and taking Kyle to the wall in the kink, a hard hit but he tells me that it was nothing for a caveman. A big shout out to Jet Hawthorn who won the Enduro, Guthrie P2 me P3.

Sunday's Qualifying race, Guthrie pole and I was P-2. Of course I miss a shift on the Start, its starting to be my signature. I do need to rebuild that tranny. John drove off to win that race. I had a great race with "Motor city Hamilton" which just goes to show you can race side by side and door to door at mid o without contact we went multiple corners giving room and racing hard. That was fun Keith.

Then the rain came. I had old toyo slicks and decided to save the 35 for the next race and watch from the paddock for the SM race.

K Webb decided to race his back up car in the ITS group mixed in with several other classes on the rain soaked track. He started P7 and by lap 2 was p1. he ended up lapping most of the field in the rain except P2. Good Job Kyle we will have to call you Rain-man. (we will have to decide if that is for your rain driving or mental state).

So who is going to win the Regional Championship?
