OK, that was fun... managed to get within a second of the fast guys. A heck of a lot more fun in the MX5 then the Mustang.

Hi Mike

I am new to this so please forgive my late braking last night. I believe it was you I punted off in the hairpin!!!. My bad. So frustrating to be so bad at this, and not have the time to get any better. I guess I need to stay out of everyones way!!:( Had a great time last night with Sam Barnett, Jim Daniels, Brad Adams, Nate Sparks, Lance Snyder, yourself and others

1. how do we find out the lap times for the event - mine and others. Is there a way to get it to display during the session, or do we get access to it after the session is ended.
2. Can we chat (voice or type) during the event? If so how do we do this?

Thanks

Danny

Danny,

1) Item 1... live lap times are in the F2 screen, intervals between you and other cars are F3. Typically F3 is good to keep up at all times to give you an idea how many cars are comin and where they are (along with knowing how far behind you are from the other cars)

2) Chat is encouraged and fun during the practice sessions, typically qualifying and really in racing mum is the word unless it's race information with your fellow drivers. Can become a concentration issue. Default for text chat is t on the keyboard, it's ok in practice but really frowned upon in qualifying and race.

Let me go look for the results and I'll post em here.

Here are the results:

If you don't have a mic you can get one relatively cheap, I think I got mine at target with a stereo jack, USB mics are a bit more expensive. This is what I use:

No problem Danny! That is what PRACTICE is all about. The hosted sessions are nice also because you can WORK with someone to get pointers on trouble spots. Easier to get a one on one instruction than it is in an iRacing practice session.

Ditto on what Lance said, but if you wish to see past sessions hover over the HOSTED tab on the main page and click on the HOSTED RESULTS link in the drop menu. From there you have to search based on different parameters (Host name, session name, etc.) The "F" screens that Lance refers to are the Black Boxes in the game. They include LAP TIME, STANDINGS, RELATIVE, TIRES, etc. What I do is go to options (in the sim, tab in upper right corner next to garage) then go to "OTHER" tab on the bottom of window. From there you can map those boxes to buttons on the wheel if you have them. I use 1 button just for the "RELATIVE" box for instant access to it. That box tells you how far behind or ahead someone is and is very useful for re-entering the track because you can't always see who is coming. Then I map two buttons on the wheel "NEXT BLACK BOX" and another for "PREVIOUS BLACK BOX". So with out too much thought I can ALWAYS return to "RELATIVE" and then cycle through ALL boxes with the NEXT and PREV buttons. Example: sometimes I like to just see the LAP TIME box and no matter which one is up I can hit the button for RELATIVE and 2 clicks on previous to get to LAP TIMES. Now it is automatic for me to navigate while I drive. I also have enough buttons that I can cycle through the PIT STOP boards and select which tires to change and and how much fuel to add, while coasting down pit lane.

YES on the MIC! Get one, its nice to be able to chat. I got a Creative USB set without noise cancel. That way I can crank up the surround sound system and still hear through the headpones. But I send the voice chat and spotter to the headset. Sometimes it all goes to the headset when I dont want to disturb the wife!

WELCOME and good luck see you out there!
