Hi there
Was nosing around under my 1990 today as I have a slight oil leak I'm trying to source. I noticed both engine mounts do not have the nut and washer on the sub frame side.. Frustrating as I have had the car for 3 years and not noticed this before.(maybe because both sides were the same!) There is an oil leak on the clutch lever side of the transmission/engine , with more accumulation beside the boot., the oil is definitely on the transmission housing and oil pan on the right. The left side is perfectly dry. Does anyone have any comments on the consequences of racing the car without having the mounts secured with the nuts?? I imagine stress on the output shaft and transmission and rear seal would be likely. Would a rear oil seal leak be a possibility here? The car has always idled with a noticeable amount of vibration on the hood.. I wonder if this was the cause. I've already ordered the nuts and washers from Mazda but wondering if I need to plan on more... Any comments or laughs are appreciated!!
Thank you !!

With your oil leak at the right hand side check to see if oil may be leaking from the crank angle sensor that is at the rear of the left side of the valve cover. There is an o-ring slipped around the pilot diameter of the CAS that keeps oil from leaking. Don't take anything apart, don't wipe anything clean around the CAS, get a good light and mirror and see if oil is leaking from the CAS down the rear of the engine. You could also take the starter out and with light and mirror see if oil is on the engine side of the flywheel.

Thanks for the reply.! I had replaced the CAS ring and valve cover gasket at same time with Mazda OEM parts. I will take a look at it to make sure that it is not leaking again.
