If my car is back together in time, I will be going to ACS this weekend. Never having driven it, I was in need of onboard video to prep.

Most of the videos I have found from there are not extremely useful for a variety of reasons. However I knew of a video from a race win that was high quality and gave me views of the driver and track that would help me.

This is the on board from the greatest driver I have ever known. Unfortunately this is the only race win from him before he closed his eyes for the last time (though he was on the podium the previous day). This win came from a very small garagista organization with a fraction of the budget and experience of the large teams. Both the driving and the mechanics were primarily developed in the small shop they came from, though as with most people, there were many good friends that helped along the way. A good friend of mine once gave me advice to never post the on boards. But I think that with the driver being gone, he will forgive me for this indiscretion.

This is my son. The best person I have ever known. Still teaching me.

P.S. TMC Drivers that have never driven ACS. I urge you to look at the final complex before heading onto the oval. In particular the bumps coming through the second section and the tire bundle on the right side of the car. Keep your hands loose and do not pinch the car through the bumps.

Also, you might notice that Nova was off throttle quite a bit through the last few corners. He was such a good boy. Listened to his stupid father too much. I told him before the race not to lose his drafting partners before the oval. Even though he was easily pulling away through the infield, he held back. He should have just rabbitted it and been done with it.

Thank you James for the video, I have been doing a lot of prep on the sim but was (like you) lacking a good video to watch. Nova's footage clearly shows the bumps and gradients that I was curious about. Don't be hard on yourself, Nova listened to your advice, which helped him get a drafting partner multiple times, and got him in an attitude where he won the race with no unnecessary or aggressive moves, just a clean fast drive to victory. Get that car ready James and I look forward to racing with you.

My car is almost ready, car is back from paint and looks awesome, decals are going on now which sucks because it looks so good without them... also got a rear bumper decal made just for this race

James, I heard about the loss of your most precious son...there are no words I have for you, just praying for your pain to ease.

Johnny, sorry to hear about your mom too, I am sure that she was a great mom...most of them are!

Matt, if I can keep up with the fast pace you young guys set for the race, that sticker will remind me which car to push!

Looking forward to racing with the NASA boys.

Matt, the car looks very nice. Now lets see it remain that way in a weeks time! :toast:

I got the engine in and the car fired last night. So I will be there. I think the NA 1.8 will be strong as the weather is predicted to be cool. Looking forward to seeing all the Teen Mazda Challenge stickers on so many cars and meeting the drivers that go with them.

Maybe I will even get a chance to share a beer with Ron.

Good Luck All

Ahhh James...your killing me! :(

I was planning to come down with a car as backup and support a team but I have a driver for this weekend at the SFR Thunderhill regional. If not sooner i'm sure we will both be at Laguna in July!

I believe there is at least 5 norcal teens coming down. A few have been there but a few will be clueless and i'm sure would love a hand shake and any advice you might have!

But no mercy when you get on track...make them all earn it!

I will miss you Ron. But I will indeed be at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. I can't believe it. From never driven an SM with no license, to the nationals 7 months later. Not that I will be contesting it, just can't believe I will be able to drive with everyone, and at MRLS.

I will be seeking out and greeting each and everyone of the TMC drivers. But I predict that that will be as close as I will be to them all weekend.
