People believe what they believe, you can lead a horse to water...

I don't know what I don't know, so who's to say.

I may ask a question I think I have an answer to but who's to say it's correct.

Just sayin, and nothing much either. :)

I'm willing to answer thought provoking questions in my own voice, with my own opinion, even if I don't use my real name because I don't want my ID stolen by the Irish, which are known hackers that have a worldwide reputation for being excellent with computers :) (LOL)

Absent that - you asked the questions, I was just foolish enough to answer.  If you didn't like the answers, then feel free to counterpoint.  Or don't ask the questions, I guess?  What is YOUR solution to save the grandkids while moving everyone to and fro and keeping them warm and shipping their Amazon purchases and brewing their pumpkin spice lattes?  I'm not being a troll, I spend a fair amount of time thinking about energy, even though it will probably never matter for me.  After all, I have a $200 Predator generator from Harbor Freight, and I'm positive I can use that to bargain with Tina Turner and make friends with Mel Gibson while I fly to Canada in my Bensen B-8.

For those with grandchildren, studying our power grid is a good start.  Once we fix the grid, alternative energy can stretch its legs.

Wouldn't a good terrorist attack solve a lot of problems or the kill rate just isn't high enough for ISIS to be interested. (sorry about the question)

Its super easy to throw out words saying someone else will accomplish this by this date. I wouldn't expect them to fully understand the problems and solutions associated by voting on such a deal, they seem to have good intentions by there current beliefs.

We have a similar problem with our government throwing out expectations from the hip. Here looky - CAFE standards. Scroll down to the chart that says CAFE requirements versus reality...

https://en.wikipedia...ge_Fuel_Economy

But in other words, for more "renewable" poking fun, check out your local energy density chart. Everyone needs to convert to turbo diesels :), 10% more energy per gallon! Its no surprise electric cars are very, very heavy, fast though!

Hille must still be drunk after winning the Runoffs.

Why because Mark uses his brain to solve problems instead of creating them.  Hille is looking for leadership not worship, most politicians and sycophants don't know the difference.

How about this bad boy.

Countries around the world are pouring billions of dollars into France's revolutionary nuclear fusion reactor

The fusion reactor everyone is anticipating is currently under construction in France. It's called the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) and could be the fusion reactor to lead a new era of clean energy. Fusing atoms together generates energy but it takes a tremendous amount of energy to make the fusion happen in the first place. Consequently, engineers have failed to build a fusion machine that generates more energy than it consumes, but ITER is the first machine designed to do just that. If it succeeds, it could change the world.

Nothing good ever came out of that country.

Who says you can't build 100% environment safe internal combustion engines by 2030?

This!  Forcing diesel to be "clean" is kind of what killed diesel (for now, anyway?).  "Tractor simple" engines with 30% cheaper fuel (mid-1990s?) became Swiss Watches (or the only thing that could be worse, which is German watches made in China?), and now with fuel that is 30% more expensive, for reasons I don't entirely understand.  Diesel is easier to refine than "gasoline", right?  My conspiracy theorist buddies think Big Energy figured out how to charge by the BTU.  Normally I would disagree, but "Premium" gasoline is $0.60/gallon higher now, which I think has more to do with "marketing" than the commodity price of 'octane'.  Given the power that society puts into people that manufacture nothing more than words for a living, I think my buddies might be right?

If most of the population understood energy, then Ray Yergler and Tom Kraft (lol, inside joke for old timers) would have never gotten rich selling the Non-American Owners of "American" Energy Companies on the idea that we should burn energy (diesel) to grow food (corn) that required more energy (diesel, electric) to be turned into energy (10% Ethanol gasoline, E85) that required energy (diesel) to be trucked to your local Mickey Mart, where you could put it in your NASCAR-winning FlexFuel Taurus/Lumina (or, to be fair, your spontaneously exploding LeMans winning VolksPorscheAudi, for that matter).

I would vote for nuclear power over and over, I just don't want to see it from my porch or yours.  But don't let the "geniuses" behind iTunes and Google Hangouts and TweetSpaceBook be in charge of it.  Nor the guys behind the E36/E46 cooling system or the Porsche intermediate shaft.  Avoid the guys from Wells Fargo and Lehman Bros while you are at it.   And nothing good ever came from Texas, especially that crappy flag (I kid, I love you guys more than France!).  I'd go with someone from Detroit or Cleveland or Pittsburgh for something this important.  People you can trust.  People that don't wear scarves in the summer.  People that wear flannel non-ironically.  :)

Both their names came up while beering this past weekend at the Farm.  :rotfl:
