The Sports Car Club of America’s 2017 National Championship Runoffs® at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is already one of the most anticipated events in the history of the Club, with nearly 1,000 entries already on the docket. But the event has more than just on-track racing for the thousands of SCCA® members in attendance, including workers, crew, family and friends. Additional events include:

Sunday Night Track Walk & Front Straight Photo
When: Sunday, Sept. 24 at approximately 6 p.m.
Location: Pit Lane at the base of the Pagoda

A track walk is planned for Sunday night starting at the base of the Pagoda. Before people are sent strolling around the track, though, a group photo will take place on the front straight. Drivers, workers and crew are welcomed. You must have an event credential to enter. No wheeled-vehicles (such as golf carts, bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc.) are permitted.

Monday Night Main Street Party
When: Monday, Sept. 25 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Location: Main Street, Speedway, Indiana

Join up as the racing city of Speedway opens its sidewalks to welcome the Runoffs. This town is used to major racing events, of course, and they recognize one when they see one. Everyone participating in the Runoffs is welcome to wander out for food, revelry and fun.

Included is live music from the Max Allen Band, food from Tacos & Tequila, one free drink ticket for every driver and worker at the Daredevil Brewing Beer Truck (additional tickets may be purchased at the Beer Truck!), water and soda. Coolers are allowed, as long as the drinks remain in their original containers. Feel free to bring a chair, too! Fill out your drink ticket to be entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate to the Daredevil Brewing Tap Room.

Please note: no golf carts or pit vehicles are allowed on city streets, so please make other plans for the short trip from the infield. A free shuttle will run from Lot 7 to Main Street from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. There is also on- and off-street parking.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is offering a buy one, get one free admission to every credentialed participant and ticket buyer at the Runoffs. The Museum’s collection encompasses race cars from many series including IndyCar, NASCAR, Formula One, Sprint, Midget, motorcycle races, and drag racing.

Kids’ Club Activities
When: Thursday through Sunday
Location: East Chalet in the Pagoda Plaza

Take advantage of these free activities when your child gets tired of watching racing. Located in the Pagoda Plaza, the Kids’ Club has crafts, games, and snacks. The outlet is open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday. This isn’t a daycare, however – adult supervision is required

All Participant Party
When: Thursday evening, Sept. 28, 6:00 p.m.
Location: Party Pavilion

Join us at the base of the Pagoda as we kick off the All Participant Party by awarding 28 deserving drivers with the Tire Rack Pole Award on the Victory Podium. All drivers, workers, crew and family are invited! We’ll then continue the celebration in the Party Pavilion, where dinner and drinks will be served along with the presentation of the Worker of the Year presented by Mazda.

SCCA Runoffs 5K & Checkered Flag Dash
When: Saturday Night, Sept. 30, following on-track activities

The green flag will be waved at 6:30 p.m., sending runners on a 3.1-mile quest for the checkers. A one-mile Checkered Flag Dash fun run will precede the 5K at 6:00 p.m. Online registration is now open, and discounts are available for teams of three or more. In support of September’s Childhood Cancer Awareness month, all proceeds from the event will benefit Maxton’s Fight and Riley Children’s Hospital, located in Indianapolis. And as part of the SCCA® Runoffs 5K, there will be a raffle for a free ride in the two-seater IndyCar! Courtesy of the Indy Racing Experience, the lucky winner will get to experience the ride of a lifetime at any of the IRE's dates/locations in 2018, including the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Tickets are $25/each or 5 for $100 and can be purchased online. The drawing will be held after the SCCA Runoffs 5K, and winners DO NOT need to be present to win. However, you must be 18 years of age to participate in the Indy Racing Experience. Please contact 5K Race Director Jason Stine at sccarunoffs5k@gmail.com for details.

Does a wheeled-cooler count as a vehicle?  That's a long walk and it will be too hard to carry all the drinks the whole way!

Sounds like you might have a problem -- I can go with you to a meeting if you need me to.

That kind of problem doesn't require a meeting unless there are going to help carry things. 😉
