If the majority of members said they wanted a tire other than Hoosier isn't then the responsibility of the SMAC to support that mandate?

I am going to take a guess but the relationship is between SCCA and Hoosier not Hoosier and the SM class. We have some input but we are not the first party customer, just the beneficiary of the agreement.

A poll on Mazdaracers doesn't exactly translate to a mandate.  I haven't even voted.

Then hurry up and vote so we can call it a mandate.

5 months ago, for those who missed it:  http://mazdaracers.c...ng-2019-update/

The wheels have been in motion for quite some time, and they don't have Toyo's mounted on them.

Who is the lucky person testing the new Hoosiers? Any developments to report?

Members ARE the SCCA.

The SCCA can poll the SM membership. (i.e., not a Mazdaracers poll)

As a regional only racer what benefit do I receive from the Hoosier-SCCA deal?

Race tires are expensive, but our SM7's are the cheapest Hoosier race tire out there for a production based vehicle. That's what we all get as part of the Hoosier-SCCA deal. Ever price a competitive race tire in one of the Touring classes. Yikes.

Does anybody have data on 200 TW tires in terms of lap times and heat cycles?

I do not. But we can get two 14 hour Chump races (One at Sebring and One at Daytona) on one set and win.

OK, so in the context of Spec Miata racing, would that same tire provide even performance over several hours of life or would you find that it's slightly better when new or when old or shaved a certain way?  If you were using the same tire for Spec Miata, how would you prep the tire and for how many cycles do you think it would be Majors pointy end competitive?

Personal whine: As an SMSE racer I'm required to run the same tire as SM in the SE Division, however SMSE is not a Hoosier contingency class, so Hoosier's contingency program doesn't mean jackshiz to me.

I don't expect this to change as we are a very minute percentage of Miata competitors, but it's still a pisser.

And the Toyo RR is similar in price to the SM7.

So what do SCCA SM racers get from Hoosier that they couldn't get from Toyo sponsorship?

I would prefer to stay on an actual race tire. If we went to a 200tw street tire the odds are high for tire shaving in my opinion. Plus having Hoosier/RR makes it feel more like a race car. :)

Todd already mentioned Hoosier is working on a different tire. I think they can make a slightly more durable tire that doesn't lose much performance and everyone will be happier.

I race in nasa. I would like to cross over. Mostly to allow more scheduling choices. But, I'm not going to do that until the orgs are on the same tire. I'm not doubling down on tires and wheels simply for scheduling convenience.

Plus having racing slicks makes it feel more like a race car

The SM7 is a 'treadless' DOT rated tire. Much different than a true Hoosier racing slick.
