And you're expecting stewards who look the other direction at egregious, blatant punts to inspect and log 160 (assuming 40 entries) tires every time we come off the track?!?

Can I interest you in this new Hedge Fund I'm starting...

lol any idea that requires SCCA to monitor and enforce it is not reality.

the solution needs to be self implementing,

So how is the decision made on what the tire contract looks like for SM? is that the CRB?

LOL. You realize that at today's engineering rates thats about 3 weeks of wages for you two? That assumes you come up with a different source for material purchases.

So you think you can build and test and entire hardware and software system ready to be used around the country by not the most tech savvy volunteers without your direct handgolding in 3 weeks. Hmm mm....

Sounds like you are the reason for overpaid engineers lol. Sure I probably couldn't roll it out nationwide, but honestly making a simple QR code phone app that would link tire barcodes to a car number bar code could be built in 8 hours of work. The only real challenge is having a unique identifier on each tire. However lets not get off topic, I'll slap the 2.5x racing multiplier everyone in our sport likes to pay and call it 100k and we can get back to the normal discussion and avoid adding a tire limit option that would never be enforced. :)

This got silly...

Stop making new stupid rules. Everyone of us b***h about silly sm rules. There are enough. Add in some nonsense tire limit rules and compliance fees and then we can blame ourselves for stupid rules that nobody actually wants.

We just need a better tire that runs more competitive heat cycles. Hoosier is capable of providing this. Seriously 6 competitive heat cycles would be good. 1 weekend 1 class is approx. 4-6 heat cycles. Depending on how you choose to run/club schedule.

I like the new blood on the forum here coming on and dropping some heat! Good on ya. I agree with you, however, if we don't argue about stuff that wont happen anyways, we will go back to talking about parity and boring technical shit.  The silliness is what makes this forum entertaining :)

Not to be snarky but do you have a clue why Spec Miata is such a highly competitive SCCA class and why Spec Miata has for several years had the most SCCA event participation?

Sorry hit the wrong button...

No by all means snark it up. It is actually well received. I absolutely agree the best competition comes from a fair well defined rule set. And we have a fair well designed rule set with few exceptions. For example, "a/c holes must be plugged with Mazda part #xxx", really!?! What does this do for competition? Why not simply "a/c holes must be plugged or covered? Why do we have to order specific rubber plugs?

I see this talk of tire limits as a clear band aid for an inadequate tire. The grip is great, but at what cost? I also appreciate Hoosiers support. I just hope they continue to do so with a more consistent tire. Not by means of an unnecessary band aid in the form of tire limits.

BOP is the "Pro" driver go-to excuse for not being a better driver than the guy ahead of him.

Is that the case in our class? "If" he had a better/newer engine, tires, etc. would he be better, but he/she just lacks $  ?

Because this class is so competitive.  I don't know the specifics around that rule, but I would guess that someone, at some point, plugged those holes (or didn't) and gained (what someone else thought) was a performance advantage.  Thus a rule was put in place.   Coincidentally, this is why we can't have nice things.

Because the guy who finished behind the guy with the unobtanium firewall plugs figured that must be the reason.

Ya, I was thinking on expand on it.

Say your friend is down on power, has a 99 with 124hp. Could he run (if verified) a one mm RP bigger or less weight ?

Kind of the opposite of the overbore.

Just throwing it out.

Well, I'm going to have to pony up and admit fault. I went back to the current gcr and there is no requirement that i can find. I must have mixed solo and club racing rules. In solo you must have the plugs when removing a/c as the factory car without a/c came with those plugs. Sorry boys got excited and didn't double check myself.

the 949 supported "super miata" class is a dyno class. which is a good idea except the whole dynamometer being super terrible.
