I'm installing a brake master cylinder.  But I can't get one of the proportioning valve fittings to fit properly (the "F" one) - I had removed the valve for the bench bleed and then reinstalled it all as a unit.  I can only conclude that I must have cross threaded it, and visually that appears to be the case - but it only goes in one way after repeatedly unscrewing it and trying again.  So, it won't "seat" properly and fluid is leaking at the top of the fitting.

Is it as simple as cleaning up the threads and trying again?  If so, anyone know what the pitch/thread is?  Or do I need a new prop valve?  I've just spent the last two hours messing with it and I'm beyond frustrated.

Since you are dealing with aluminum, if you retap to clean up the threads, it may not be strong enough to tighten to a good seal.

I'm pretty sure that's M10x1.  But, I'm not sure how much I would trust a cross-threaded, cleaned up brake component...on the racetrack.  I guess that would depend on how badly the threads were f'd up.
