Driving coaches in the Northeast

I am looking for the names of driving coaches in the northeast, near Watkins Glen.  I've been driving my '91 Spec Miata for a few years now, and I don't seem to be getting any faster.  My last session at WGI, the July Sprints, I was running lap times of 2:23 and 2:24.  I'd like to get down into the 2:20's, but telling myself to just go faster doesn't seem to be doing the trick.  Any suggestions?

I've worked with Drew Wikstrom ( http://tachterion.us/ ) once a year for the last few years. I always learn something and get faster. He's really good at telling you not only where you can go faster, but how to achieve it.

 

Plus he's a nice guy.

I have video (forward, aft, and pedals) and an Aim Solo.

Pat Gallagher would be an excellent coach he is now back at Monticello I believe so might not be to far for him.

One thing I have seen when coaching is some racers with a car setup that does not inspire confidence so the car either fights the driver or causes the driver to hold back. I once had a pretty good racer I was coaching and this was one of his biggest stumbling blocks. We skipped several driving session while getting the car on scales to get it right. The next morning we started the practice session at track record pace. Sometimes the driver just don't know what he just don't know.

There is actually a SCDA @ the Glen tomorrow and Tuesday but he doesn't coach when is working...

 

I second Elivan, he has been coaching me for the last few years and has helped me immensely. 

 

There a several good coaches while they are not cheap you might try a few till you find someone you feel comfortable with. 

 

I have been lucky to be coached by several great Sm drivers. Justin Hille, Elivan and also Johnathan Goring.
