Of course. We're always faster chasing a faster carrot.

I do not run after carrots.  Bourbon, rum or tequila, or a nice figure....sure.  Carrots, negative.

Right.  So it is entirely plausible that he gained time doing that...

I've gained a similar time delta between qualifying and the race by getting a good start in the race and then following a faster car.  It happens ALL the time.

In my 1 and only race at WGI a dozen years ago (SRX7), I improved 2 sec per lap over my qualifying time.  If you are new to the track, that iterative learning matters.  And I was still slow but not DFL - DFL had even less time than me on the track.

Well, that front pack of 9 put on a very impressive display of driving, especially the side by side and very close quarter stuff.  The best in all of SCCA can be seen in those 2 cameras.

Well... this makes me feel better.  I drove off the track 3 times but at least that was over the course of 15 laps.

I could have beat that but fan belt came off in the second spin

As good as the video is, it doesn’t convey the pucker factor of those 2-3 wide situations we were in from Turn 1-5. Hope they incorporate some of the in car footage from they got from the front runners.

I missed what put Haldeman out.  And what was Danny's issue before the inferno?

Chris was hit by Clark Cambern I believe and put him out, Danny said car slowed and fuel line popped off.

What happened on the restart, looked like the 11th or 12th place car didn't go? Held up the whole line...

The only video I'm really interested to see is the Hard Charger - Jesse Singer who apparently was able to run 1.3s faster at race pace passing all of those cars then in qualifying sessions beforehand.

I'm a proud Larry, and given that my first qualifying session was my first ever drive on the the track, I thought I fared reasonably well as a mid-packer moving up a couple of seconds per session.

But I'm a bit concerned when someone who runs the following lap times  (2:20.660 2:21.440 2:20.378) in qualifying somehow runs a 2:19.09, and bests prior qual times with many race pace lap times, to move up that many spots to take my hard charger award....

I call BS....

He posted all of the LCR videos @ Indy of him going off track multiple times in the same race on the same corner so show us this race video.

All his vids are now published to Youtube...  What say you now????

Tyler Quance was is P10, ECU fuse blew on the re-start.  Tough break for him (and for the group that got gapped).

He seems to have ran a decent race. Kudos to him.

Not sure about timing of that start, and if passing by off road excursion is legal where it's hard to say if he was four off, but it certainly answered my questions about how he gained so many spots.

Either way I counted 7 gained on the start and that still beats what I managed to luck out with so good for him. Nice drive.
