Had a 2nd ring and pinion failure at the Nasa Sonoma event at the end of March.

Mazda was out of the 1st time I lost one, so I got a set off ebay that was in good shape and set the lash and installed it myself.

Well, I ended up losing a right rear hub(Timken hub with one season if that) diving into T6.

Spinning that quick might have placed a spike load on the ring that compromised the ring gear.

I scraped the parts together with help from the awesome norcal SM crew(Thanks Bret!) for the next race.

Unfortunately my R&P gears let go heading into T11 prior to the green flag the very next race, :banghead:

I have a new cusco lsd that has been amazing to drive vs. the viscous that was in there before, so I don't want to go Torsen.

When I looked up getting new R&P gears at Mazda, they showed nothing in stock.

So I called them and was told they are discontinued or retired, which I was not expecting.

I jumped online to see if dealers had any inventory, and luckily I was able to get one for not much more than Mazda offers us.

I even bought a 2nd set as back up in case they evaporate completely by the next time I need one, fingers crossed the new one will last me a while.

Anyway, figured giving a heads up to other NA6 die hards holding out on the torsen swaps was called for.

Here's the 4.3 R&P gear part#:  T020-27-110D

MSRP is like $840, Mazda motorsports last price was $535, dealers sell online from $560 to MSRP.

Torsen denial has been expensive so far ;)

Jim,

Thanks a ton, I will be calling your guys tomorrow to order a set. Guess these online OEM part retailers are drop shipping parts from Mazda as both came back after taking the orders and confirmed the parts were no longer available. Ugh.
