Should I be concerned with a block of ice bouncing around in the cooler? I'm debating if I need to build a cage to protect the pump.
Building a Coolbox, do I need to protect the pump?

I use the snack bar ice just because it easy and works well.
If you have a ice maker that makes ice blocks and/or keeps it cold, I guess you would have to be a little careful.
You have enough water to prim the line and enough the pump doesn't go dry.

The manufactured units have the pump in a metal box that has openings on the bottom, for the water to enter.

That's probably what I'll have available. I know the blocks last longer, but vending machine ice is easily accessible

Good to know, thank you!

Buy a small wire metal drawer unit from the dollar store. Cut it to fit, user nylon "adel" style clamps and stainless screws to secure it...seal the holes with silicon II.
