You dont care about winning
You dont care about being fast in SM
You dont care about lap times at VIR
You dont care if we have parity at a Championship race
You dont care to see rules changed based on Champ outcome

Seriously? What are you talking about? That's quite the imagination you have.

You dont care that life sucks for drivers far more talented than you

Seems to me you only care about running your mouth about alot of stuff you really don't care about???....lol. You're entitled to your opinion even if you really don't care,,,,I think......Unless you don't care about that either....lol.

oh stop - the dollops of class you're bringing to the table are overwhelming.

and damn. what a prick you are.

Okay, I think we all get it... Some think the rules are fair and some think they're not.

I was thinking about running the NASA National event at Mid-Ohio and noticed there was not very many spec miatas registered. My question is why is the turnout so bad? Is everyone boycotting this year because of the new rule change to the 99's or ....

I am just looking for a little insight.

I'll agree that the turnout is low. I hope to see some incentives announced soon to help SM/SSM drivers that are on the fence sign-up. I expect the final count to be around 45 cars.

It could be that racers are short on funds this year, or that contingencies usually go to the podium finishers, or yadda yadda yadda... I don't know exactly, but one thing we all can agree on is that most of the 'top teams/drivers' are running 99's and have the perception that their cars are under-dogs. So I don't think I'm not going to far out on the limb saying this probably has something to do with turn-out (Top Teams/Driver usually have the funds to come too). I wish facts (regional results) could persuade these perceptions but that's a battle not usually won.

Nevertheless, here are details from the last registration report I got from NASA (a few days old):

A total of 22 cars were registered (one is an SSM, it was removed from the calc)

CAR COUNT BY MODEL
  • 1.6 : 10 : 45.5%
  • 1.8 : 5 : 22.7%
  • 99 : 6 : 28.6%
  • 01 : 0 : 0%

REGIONAL COUNT
  • Great Lakes: 7
  • Midwest: 4
  • Northeast: 3
  • Texas: 3
  • Mid Atlantic: 3
  • Florida: 1
  • Southeast: 1
  • SoCal: 1 (this is me, I don't know what car I'm renting yet so I'm not in the above calc, my guess is I'll be in a 99)

I'll request another report in a few weeks & will do similar breakouts.

Am I mistaken or did NASA lighten the 99 when they required the new RP? If they did, what is their (NASA's) weight for the 99 vs. SCCA's?
