Our 95 car has a BLP9 ECU which I believe is OBD1(?). I have a 94 parts car(same color...yea!) and was wondering if the ECU which is a BPE8 is compatible as a back up and legal? Thanks all you engine gods in advance :D

It depends if you have a late 95 or not. It you do it will not start the car, well it will start and run one or two seconds. If you have an early 95, it will start and run no problem

So just plug it in and find out? If it runs then all is good? legal?

If it doesn't then my original ecu is OBD2?

If you still have your production sticker on your driver side door /jam, check the production date. 1/30/95 and up is the newer production, if your car was produced before this, the 94 will work.
