I just moved to the Detroit, MI area last week from Washington State to start an engineering job. I'm currently living in a hotel in Southfield while I continue searching for homes.

The roads here really suck. One of the exhaust hangers on my '92 has sheared off from all the abuse and my exhaust is now free to bang into the rear subframe. If anyone in the area has a MIG welder, I'd really appreciate the opportunity to swing by your shop/garage and enlist your help!

I could bring a case of beer if you're into that sort of thing, as well.

Joe Dunn has a welding shop near Southfield. His contact info might be on waterfordhills.com ? Lot's of great local racers on the Waterford Hills Raceway site. Chris Childs from Angry Sheep motorsports also comes to mind.

I'll look into it. Part of my problem is that many exhaust shops frown upon my lack of a CAT, so they're out. A welding shop might not care as much, though.

Still, if there are any SM or other Miata racers in the area (and I'm sure many of you have a wire feed), I'd like the chance to make a new friend and get a feel for this state. That's all.

Dunn's will weld anything. They are all race car guys. They also set up at every Waterford Hills race for track side help. I have seen beer work as payment at the track.
