What is the cheapest available with the most features?

Must be GPS based (no pit wall ray guns or AMB)and stand-alone (no other hardware (like a PC, App, etc. required or necessary); no other data aquisition necessary (like rpm, speed, lateral g(s), etc.)

i like my traqmate.
a lap timer only shows times, add a data system and you can learn WHY your times are what they are.

it is GPS based, and a great tool for a racer to improve.

For cheap it would be tough to beat an Ebay sourced Windows Mobile PDA and 5-10 Hz bluetooth GPS nugget and a free copy of Racechrono.

I think the latest GPS-based incarnation of the G-Tech is designed primarily as a lap and segment timer too.

I can't say how well either would hold up in a racing car environment.

Although this is true. The thing i like about rumblestrip is the instant comparison to a fast lap. Try different lines, brake later, gas earlier...you can instantly see if its helping or slowing you down.

I have been told a traqmate also does predictive timing but the select times I have used one, i couldn't see anything except the lap time. (probably looking at the wrong spot)
