Seems like the fuel pump in my 94 is making a lot of noise. Maybe I never noticed it before but is sure is humming now. Motor runs good, about 3 gallons of fuel in the tank.

Is this normal or should I change it out before it gives up?

"Noisy" is pretty subjective to diagnose. What is the fuel pressures at idle and full throttle? Is the pump keeping up with demand? You might want to keep a spare in your parts bin just in case.

I know "noisy" is a wide open description. It's just that it seems to have started suddenly. Kind of suspicious.

I'm new to this. What pressure should I be looking for? Can I measure at the fuel sample port?

As you know the fuel pump is mounted in the fuel tank. It's not a big deal to remove. An electrical plug, two hoses & 6 or 8 small Phillips head screws. From the pump to output hard line there is a 0-ring kit. The o-ring could be trashed??? There is also one Phillips head screw that holds the pump to a bracket. This screw could be loose??? There is also a heavy duty o-ring that fits around the fule pump & the output steel line which could be streched or broke???

Find the fule pressure/check proedure in your factory shop manual. ;)

If you think after some inspection that the pump itself is noisy, I would replace it even if it's putting out good pressure now. It won't go bad while siting in the garage. If it fails it'll likely be while on the track which really sucks.
