The Maybury Cup – Fall Classic Enduro
Tuesday, October 18, 2011
Open Track Practice, a 2.5 hour Enduro (2 drivers min),
and Lunch Award Ceremonies
Open to ALL Spec Miata Racers (Members and Non-Members)
~~Presented by Monticello Motor Club member Chris Maybury~~
Chris Maybury took a fancy to all Spec Miatas and decided to personally host an annual
race out of the pure love of competition.
In 2009 – A dozen cars showed up on short notice in a highly competitive sprint race to
have the winning team’s names engraved on the World Famous Maybury Cups: two
Georgian Silver Cups Circa 1860!
In 2010 – Over 25 teams came out to compete. Team Maybury took the cup at the
Spring Sprint and Team Goldman/DeMan won the Fall Classic Enduro.
2011 may be a last chance for non-members to enjoy racing at MMC as we continue to
close access to non-members (MMC no longer rents to car clubs).
Get ready to race for your spot on the Georgian Silver Cups!!

I have a few friends that coach there. They said the track is awesome. I understand its a private club but would it ever be open for rental by our clubs ?

They no longer rent the track out to clubs.
If you are not a member or a guest of a member or manufacturer the only chance you get to run it is in this race.

So do members hold races - or just track their high dollar toys?
Again - what good is a racetrack that doesn't hold races?

They have both a racing series and a championship for spec miata and Porsche boxster.

Event is held at Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, NY about 90minutes from Manhattan. Beautiful facility, 3.5miles +/-, 17 turns +/-, great pavement.
They host several races there per year, but its principally a private track for the benefit of its Club Members who have access to oodles and oodles of track time for testing and driver development.
We test our Grand Am and IMSA cars there all the time. We've run in the Spec boxster and Spec Miata races which are held there. We were fortunate enough to win the Maybury Fall Enduro last year against Elivan Goulart and Chris Maybury.
The facility is fantastic, and the enduro race is an awsome event as well. I believe its free of charge.
Really cool race in a really cool environment.

I've heard nothing but great things about this event and the facilities. They have also done maybury cup races at Limerock.
If you're in the North East and you can get there during the week, do it. Wish I could make it but I'll be slinging shingles instead.

We've kind of confirmed this with someone at the track but:
My team of two drivers has never been to Monticello before. We were hoping to each run our own car simultaneously during the practice session in order to get max track time to learn the course. Then we'd obviously share a car for the enduro. Is this a go for us? I'd rather not trailer my car 4.5 hours there just to find out that we can't both be out there at the same time during practice in separate cars. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can, but would be nice if you found another 2 drivers for the other car. :-)

Thanks Chris. We've tried to recruit more teams from our usual circle of racers but our efforts have come up empty handed. How many cars have registered so far?
