Anyone use this type of fuel jug? I'm wondering if there is enough air getting in to dump the fuel well. I'm looking for something for enduro events.

I have used those jugs. You have to be sure your fuel neck is cut out just right or it will leak all over the place. Also one of those jugs we had at the track once and it swelled up so bad that it split down the middle and leaked all the fuel all over the ground. I wish I would have taken a picture of what AMG rigged up on their fual cans, man do those babies work smooth, and they arent $75.00 items either :)

I've used them. They don't fill as fast as you'd think. I did however modify 2 that can to dump 5 gallons of gas in a little over 5 seconds. At that rate, the car is the limitation of the filling time...not the can.

Thanks, sounds like they are ok but not optimal. Any other ideas or directions I should research?

I would contact AMG and see if they will send a picture of what they made. I would also assume Fowler would have something since OPM has done a number of Enduros.

Keith, Just to be sure take a look at the NASA regs I know the have specific fuel jugs they permit for enduro refueling, If its not pictured in the rules I would ask. Not sure about SCCA rule, but I would take a look.

I'll see what I can dig up with the guys in ATL.

Frank - good call on the NASA rule. I remembered you could modify how the fuel dumps but forgot they didn't like the type of jug shown in my picture above. No Kyle, not those kind of jug pictures :)

“The use of hoses; funnels; clamps; PVC & ABS fitting, valves, and pipes; threaded connectors; roofing supplies; various plumbing supplies; and most similar items found at a local hardware store are generally allowed.” The intent of this rule is to encourage creativity and inexpensive development of faster and/or safer ways to refuel. This adds one more factor in the list of strategic elements of this sport, and it’s one of the best features of this series."

A few of us in Florida use the Hunsaker fuel jug.

The ones we use for enduros is the 5 gallon model, which looks like the 7 gallon one on the site.

I have 2 of the 11 gal version of this (not exact, mine are aluminum) and they have a valve on the spout. I have used them a couple of times a while back as the fuel guy for another team. They worked well, just can't open the valve all the way....

We used a couple of those 10 gallon jugs at our last enduro in an ITE RX7. Tricky to use if you've never used one before. Kinda heavy and a little unwieldy as well. That car had a dry break system. Frickin awesome. Dumped those 10 gallons in seconds. We used the 7 gallon bottle for a vent bottle.

Rob Burgoon down in so-cal had a pretty nice effective setup on his SM. I crewed for him on his NASA enduro down at Buttonwillow.

NASA only allows the VP Racing style jugs. No Scribner or any other type. If it doesn't look exactly like the VP, it's going to get dinged.

When I looked at the rules, it had a picture of normal looking round and square jug and said you can use anything that looks like either so brand isn't an issue and that you can use various things to modify them. Then it showed a pic of the Hunsacker jug and said it is expressly forbidden.
