I've got a track day planned after Christmas at Laguna Seca. The sound limit for the weekend is 92 db. I currently am running a mazda comp (bosal) exhaust with no cat. Does anyone know how close I'm cutting it?

My current thought is to replace the test pipe with a cheap catalytic converter (bosal) to try to give myself some room. I was hoping someone here might have some experience with the laguna sound restrictions and could help with expectations.

I'm driving in from Golden, CO - so I've got one shot at getting it right and I don't want to cut my weekend short.

With the cat you'll be ok, no chance without it. Bring an elbow to direct sound toward the drivers side.

I agree with Dion. We race there a lot, and the weather can actually jack with the sound readings too - i.e. low fog, etc. Even running custom "LS exhausts" as we call them with full mufflers and elbows we still hit advisory and warnings all the time. Definitely get the cat and come up with some sort of flange with elbow to point to drivers side just in case. There's always the short shift up the hill too before the sound reading which wouldn't be the worst for a track day. One of the best tracks out there, but have to deal with the County for noise abatement, unfortunately. Good luck and have fun.
