This race is a continuation of the successful events run in the past two years. The format and rules will be very similar to last year with a few minor changes based on last year's experience. We do anticipate a class restructuring to promote wider participation. If you missed The Devil this year, be sure to put it on your calendar for next year.
The entry package will be posted on the DLB online registration system after the first of the year. Registration will open on 1 February 2012.
More spectators, more participants, more fun in 2012!

(set filter for South Jersey Region | Club Race All) - and the event web site .
The rules are essentially the same as last year with a few refinements based on our experience and competitor feedback. All of last year's refinements including the elimination of timed pit stops were well received and have been retained.
The major change for 2012 is a revised class structure which consolidates the 23 disparate classes from last year's event into five Endurance Classes. At the same time many comparable classes from other organizations have been included to attract additional enduro enthusiasts. Every car will be in a class with many direct competitors to heighten interest and raise the level of competition.
The entry for this year's race will open on 1 February 2012
Hope to see ya at The Devil

let us know when we can find info on the consolidated classes. Are you envisioning something like NASA does for the 25 hour? I would guess that you'll combine all "spec miatas" maybe and there will be no distinction between "SM" and "SSM" for example?
The endurance class table is in the supps on DLB. The scheme is quite similar to the NASA 25 Hour. SM and SSM are both in E3.

Last years event was great....though I appreciate the fact that drivers weren't allowed to compete in the beer pong tournament!

Congrats to the Henwood boys, Scott Z and Pete for the win. I believe E3 was the most competitive class, making up about half of the 40 entries.
We (#32 miata... Reading, Dimarco and Dimarco) had a ball and were perfect except for a momentary lapse by yours truly. My apologies to the #41 Rossini team for costing us both time in the pits.
BIG thanks to Nick, Drew and all of the Flatout Motorsports guys for an excellent car and excellent crew. These guys can put together an effort! ... a good friend of mine was new to miatas, NJMP and racing all together. After a test day with Nick and putting him in one of his rental 1.6s, yielded the fast lap in E3 I believe. Impressive.
Most of all, had a great time making new friends and seeing some old ones.
If you haven't done one of these long enduros, I highly recommend it! Best bang for the buck, in my opinion. Only 1 single full course caution in the entire event? And the last 2-3 hours were in the rain.
We were bridesmaids again this year. Already looking forward to 2013....

b. All four wheels of the car must be mounted and on the pit surface during refueling. The car may not be supported
by any external means including jacks or jack stands.
I'm just saying that if the rule is that clear, and you break it you should be penalized. Those who did it, know who they are.
Phew...... that was a close one!

We raced hard and thankfully the car held together with the help of JB Weld (water pump leak found the night before the test day). For the most part we kept 4 wheels on the track and we were quick in the pits with the help of our awesome crew which was made up of family (my Dad, Uncle and Brother-in-law) and friends (Wes Czech). Special thanks to our Co-Drivers Pete Maerz and Scott Zetterstrom, we could not have pulled this off without your help both in and out of the car.
Great racing amongst everyone in the E3 class. As always the Dimarco/Reading team pushed us hard, as well as the Yosh/Livingood/Kellett/Ball team, always a pleasure racing you guys.
I think we were able to convince Mike LaMaina and his brother to race next year, they seem to be hooked. Who wouldn't be?

I didn't realize he had the fast lap for e3! impressive for sure.
The event was really well run. We had fun in our 04 car, that's for sure. Things got a bit hairy when we lost the windshield wipers that night, but we made do.
Congrats to the top 3. All those guys were really pros the whole day.
I think this event helped show us the difference between full tread ra-1's and hoosier wets....wow. I was also surprised how well the hoosiers did in that sprinkle rain we had when it first started getting dark.
Cheers,
Vick

We ran hoosier dry tires, and toyos for wets. I think the best way to describe the difference is the guys I saw on hoosiers were all over the paint and the curbs, and their tires were warm and sticky after the race. My toyos were just wet.

And congratulations to the other 38 teams that hit the track in the third edition of The Devil. Several teams struggled with mechanical gremlins, a few did not finish but 30 teams were still running when the checker flag flew at the end of the 12 hours.

A big congratulations to Matt and Pete Henwood, Pete Maerz, and Zett on a well deserved win. You guys didn't put a wheel wrong all race!
Congratulations also to Bob & Matt DiMarco and Mitch Reading for 2nd. We had managed to finally make up some time and get back on the same lap before the rains really came and our Toyos weren't quite up to the task as the Hoosier wets were. A very well run race and congrats as well to the folks from Flatout that put together some nice stops for the 32!
As for us, we were down a little on power but hopeful. The 91 car (which we bought in the fall and worked on over the winter) had competed in the 12 Hour 2 years ago but needed quite a bit of work to bring it up in competitiveness. We have the fortune of some great friends and family that crewed the car very well as well as some great drives by Chris Kellett and Bill Ball, but the standout this year was Jason Livingood who really got on the bit and turned some really consistent faaaast laps when we needed them. Jack Banha from http://www.woodlawngarage.com was our great crew chief and he did a great job of coordinating everyone and keeping the drivers motivated and calm.
We've got a 2nd and a 3rd in class now so only 1st remains. Next year!
