Apparently in the course of swapping in a new transmission, I managed to misplace the bolts that hold the clutch slave cylinder to the engine/transmission. Anybody know what size these are so I can go pick up some replacements?

I see this in the manual:

Awesome that they give the torque specs, but no idea of the size. Help?

Thanks,

Julian

Turns out I had a variety pack on hand and got lucky. Turns out it's an M8 x 1.25. Not sure what the length is supposed to be, but the shortish one I had worked out.

The stock ones I just measured were 20mm threaded shank length and a 16 mm diameter flange. This would do the trick quite nicely. The stuff on (and in) the engine I get from Mazdaspeed but the other fasteners I buy in bulk from McFadden Dale, the local Grattan distributor.

Thanks guys! I've got a generic bolt with a washer on there now, but will swap it out for a properly flanged bolt of the correct length.

I've had one of these bolts back-out before (weird)... I use a medium strength thread lock on it now.

My spare trans always has a new slave already mounted so you'll be safe
(they may even be pre-bled with QR fittings in 2012 )

He probably torqued it to one grunt instead of two... ;) I've got a few parts bins with old Miata fasteners that I'd sell. The ones that didn't have to be plasma gouged out, remove with an extractor or ground and drilled out are only in slightly worse shape than the ones that did come out with a wrench, PB Blaster and all. Fully caked in iron oxide. In fact I'm going to sell those by the pound. To the scrapyard on my next run...... :guinness:
