I am new to racing and have a pretty beat up Spec Miata to see how it goes. I have run few track days and NASA events. I have taken a lot of time off my orginal laps, but still have long way to go and could use a personal coach to help with understanding specific car setup, Miata lines at tracks and do a lot of lead follow coaching. Does anyone have a suggesion of a coach, preferably at Infineon, but Thunderhill or Laguna might work?
I need a NorCal coach

Tim Barber at Infineon does setups for many frontrunners. I'm sure he'd coach you too. Nearly everyone in the paddock will watch your videos and throw in their opinions for a beer, and everyone on this site will trash you for free if you post. More gas, less brakes is my usual coaching input. Juan's clinic is definitely a good idea.

I work with Tim at the shop and he does great set up work and he can definitely help coaching. He is one of the reasons I went from placing 25th place both days on my first race this year to putting the car on pole at Infineon on the last race weekend. There are a few test days at Infineon in January, if you have a racing license it would be the best bang for your buck in terms of coaching/set up work/track time. Give him a call (415) 205-2222.
Also like mentioned before the Art of Road Racing should be on your list of things to do. This is one of the other reason's of my progress this year. Some VERY useful information, GREAT drills, and the people coaching you out are all front runners in both SM/SE30/etc so they know what it takes. I strongly recommend this program, it will start your year off on the right foot.
EDIT: Just realized this is Peter, right? I hope all is well with the car since the last track day you had.

Charlie - Thanks, I just signed up for the Art of Racing. Would enjoy spending a Day with Tim and you to make sure the car feels right and chasing one of you. I am hoping my ASA license comes in thsi week so we can use Infineon test days.

I believe that Matt Bell (he's a paid pro driver whose quite successful if you're not familiar with him) goes to those tracks for coaching. I'd absolutely reach out to him and see what his rates are. For a personal coach, I'd expect to pay anywhere from $750 - $1,200 for a day. Another fast club racer would probably do it for less.
