Sebring is no where near a beach. About as far from the oceon/gulf as you can get in Florida. Plenty of sand in the air to sandblast the front of the car.

Putting on stickers and we are done with cars. Burdzy, Brown and Bender in Sm. Burdzy in the B-spec

Dave while the geographic location may not be near any beach many tracks come equiped with their own beaches... Having never been to Seb I have no idea if there are any beaches there or not.

looking over the entry list, 55 entrants so far, may end up at close to 60 cars, very impressive field!!!

I'm sure there is more, but at a quick glance, I see 2 National Champions ( with Sparks), 2 June Sprints winners, 3 ARRC Champions, 4 or more division Champions, a bunch of national event winners and lap record holders..10+?
Looking at this list.. a serious case can be made for any number of potentiial winners.. Going to be very competitive for sure!

Very true Danny, should I bring some 2415 stickers for you???

I still have not gotten a straight answer on the weight issue.

If my 1.6 car has 2300 on the side. I come in to impound and weigh 2320. I am legal.

If during impound, my bore is measured (ENGINE CYLINDER BORE!!!) and I am found to be 0.010 oversized. Thus making my true legal minimum weight 2315. Am I subject to a penalty? I am still above my minumum weight, but I had the wrong weight sticker on the car.

At what overbore am I required to count the extra weight? 0.003, 0.006? What is considered totally illegal? 0.011? Meathead???????

I don't remember the spec off the top of my head. But there is a max bore dimension in the book.

If you come in at 2320 and you have a weight posted at 2300. There should be an RFA written up. You are intentionally cheating, regardless of what weight you come in at. But I am not a steward, maybe Mr Creighton will answer that one.

But that is exactly my point. I did not cheat, I simply had the wrong weight sticker.

A +0.010 1.6 car is supposed to be 2315, I came in at 2320. So I actually made weight but had the wrong sticker.

Is the sticker the ultimate rule.

I am trying to download the Jan 2012 rule book from scca.com. But it will not complete the download after multiple attempts.

You are non compliant... We can not enforce intent, you know that. IMO, someone who runs a 2300 sticker on a car that should be 2315 intentionally cheated. If you were informed enough to know you could go .25 mm over, the same rule that allowed that modification also included your new weight.

So the sticker is the more important than the car. I have no problem with that, just want to make sure everyone is 100% clear. Myself included.

Next point on the same subject. I did the math and the standard dimension as listed in the 2012 GCR, allows for +0.005 tolerance from stock dimension. For example using a 1.6:

Stock dimension as listed on page 632 is 78mm = 3.071", yet page 618 shows a max bore of 3.076", Thus a 0.005" tolerence. The same math works for 1.8 and the +0.010 dimensions on both engines.

Tolerance of bore is absolute per page 173. So if your engine is 0.006 over bore, and many are, you better add the weight and the correct sticker.

My reasoning for this discussion is not arguementative, but to be informative to everyone racing. I would hate to have somebody penalized for being a couple thousanths of an inch to big.

Jim and Mike, please note a typo error on page 618. The lower box graph (in red) says Maximum STANDARD dimension. It should read Maximum + 0.010" OVERBORE dimension.

Thanks for clarifying
Dave

And, if you've never been inside your engine (therefore, can't be certain of cylinder bore) overbore weight is the safest sticker for the car. OTOH, if you haven't been inside the engine, I guess its unlikely you'll (I'll) be involved in a teardown.
