This is for a FP car, but for you guys familiar with the 1.6, what is the thread size for the water temp sensor in the front of the engine. I'm pulling my temps from the rear and want to find a plug for the front verses just leaving the old stock temp sensor.

Thanks

The stock front sensor isn't a data collection point, it's a switch used to turn on the fan. If you do replace it, you'll need to arrange another way to turn the fan on. What I did was to weld a round bung into the thermostat housing, then drill/tap the bung for a data sensor. You can also accomplish the same thing, although less elegantly, with a sensor in the top radiator hose. There are plenty on the market.

Thanks Jim, I'm not running a fan, but I appreciate the heads up on what role it serves. I read around and found that it's a M12-1.5, but need to confirm.

I guess it depends on wether you have an electric or mechanical gauge. For my electric gauge I cut the small tube off the thingy at the back of the head, (next to where the ECM gets its reading), drilled out the remainder and tapped it 1/8 npt. Hottest part of the engine I am told.
Plus that point will give erronious readings.

My engine is bagged and over in storage, should I make it over this weekend I'll measure it. For the sensor I got this do-dad from Wheeler a couple weeks back. Similar to what I ran on the karts. I'll install on the hose I use to bypass the heater core. No defroster for this kid, that's what Rain-X is for.

He's also got a larger one for the rad hose. With either of those you'll need to get 1/8" NPT sender/sensors ( but those are as abundant as hookers in Vegas.....) though the big part has an addtional 1/2" NPT for a mechanical gauge connection

I'm sure our other parts sellin' buddies have similar items but that's where I went.

I'm with dStevens on this one...I bought the adaptor from Wheeler and installed in the radiator hose. Was very quick and easy to do.

I will also say that Wheeler's adaptor is a really nice piece of aluminum. I was using it as an artistic paperweight on my desk until I installed it.
