Has anyone had the opportunity to use one?

I am thinking about this as a reasonably priced alternative to a full aim or traqmate system.

For $400 I don't think it can be beat. If you want external sensors in the future the Solo DL is a good option.

It's got the "Money" channels so way better than nothing. Throw one in your competitors car and compare

I just sold my Racepak IQ3 and picked up the AiM Solo. Seems like a great choice for the type of stuff that I want to measure. I also like that it's detachable, so I can take it out of the car when I'm leaving it out overnight at the track and be sure that it doesn't walk off. (No windows...) I have the mounting plate attached to my gauge panel, and the Solo pops in and out pretty easily... yet seems secure enough that I don't have to worry about it moving when I don't want it to.

Haven't had a chance to collect data with it yet, other than with the daily driver. :)

Yep, it's really good! The Solo is a terrific little piece and the Race Studio 2, while clunky and not as intuitive as Traqview, is much more powerful and you can manipulate the information to obtain a lot of valuable info. It's equivalent in capability to a Traqmate Complete Classic.

Buy the solo and use it and see how much of a data person you are going to be. If it is something that you want to expand and dive deeper into adding more channels then sell it and buy the AIM EVO 4. All the data you collect will be able to be used in the future with the same software you already know. Resale on a Solo should be very strong.

I have it and it works well once you get the track maps loaded into it.
Mine arrive with no maps loaded. The directions that it comes with are useless.
I had to download GPS manager software from AIM and then load the maps.
The only one I drive that it does not have is the Sebring short (Club) course.
I haven't figured out how to make it work on the short course and the Sebring map is only the long course.
If anyone can help me out with Sebring short I appreciate it.

Both the Solo and the Solo DL are great items. We have been selling a bunch of them lately.

For those of you, like me, that need glasses to read a magazine, you will love the large font of the Solo.

We have been using the supplied mag mount, bolted to our radio delete plate. Never had an issue, even over curbs or the bumps at Sebring

I had a Micro3 Gold and while i miss the extra data channels the Solo is dead simple to use and provides great info.

At a major track just turn it on, literally.

I have a piece of aluminum plate that i bent past 90 degree velcro on the dash, velcro on two sides of the plate, and the back of the Solo.  I nestled it to the right of the instrument hood.  Easy to see and has not come off even when trying a high speed donut off the track.   I can take it in and out easy and loan to another driver if they have velcro on the dash

One more thing, for OBD2 cars (99+) get the DL with the pigtail so you can record what the ECU is seeing. The sample rates are slower than what we would prefer, and not everything is monitored. But it gives you a start and will much easier teach you to use the AIM software.

90-97 cars, get the plain Solo

99+ cars get the DL

For us at v2 we start with the solo on any year and then jump to a evo4 with the G dash. The price of a solo DL vs a EVO is not that great and the EVO is a far better system.

The Solo is also what SCCA uses at track to gather data in the competition adjustment classes. Although the magnetic mount seems to be a challenge for the P1 cars. The Gs seem to spit them off the cars.
