It's that time of year!

For the newbies: For several years, the Spec Miata guys have had a yahoo fantasy league for the NASCAR season. Now that our community has grown beyond SM into this new board, here are the details so that more can join us. This is free and just for bragging rights.

Group ID#: 6516
Group Name: Mazda Racers
Group Password: mazdaspeed

Who's in?

For those keeping track, this is our 5th year doing this.

BTW, last year I had set it up that we could drop our lowest score in each 1/3 of the season. That's how I set it again. If you guys prefer that it include and count all scores, raise your hand. (to be eligible to vote, you need to sign up to play).

I'm in (LTD #7). Waiting for the wife to determine her team name for this season and then she'll sign up. Looks like all races are counted now? That's how I'd vote for setting it up: no dropping your worst race every 12 races. Every one counts.

With a couple of days before the first event, we've got 9 entrants, that's about 1/2 of last year. Last chance to get your entries in before the season starts.

Also, on the fantasy league message area, I'm addressing the scoring issue. In short, unless someone chimes in with a contrary view, I'm removing the dropped race option per Cy Peake's request. See the full post there for the details.

You know what would make this really cool? What if we had a title sponsor that gave a prize at the end of the season to the winner of the league. You know, something a mazda racer could use.... :)

My C pick was David Ragan. Whoops.
My A pick was Jeff Gordon. Whoops.
One of my B picks was Cole Trickle...I mean JPM. That worked out poorly for everyone except Tide.

+1. Notice how not one of us broke 300 points?! This was as random a race as it could get.

BTW, since there are only two people who expressed views on the race-drop rule (one posted a comment on the league board), one for and one against, I'm breaking the tie with keeping the drop.

I read this joke somewhere yesterday: How many race car drivers does it take to destroy a jet dryer? Just Juan.

They only talked about it very briefly on the broadcast, and I haven't read much about the EFI system. But, during the broadcast they said that the EFI system had to be restarted following a defined startup sequence to prevent accidental restarts in wrecks, etc.

I was just reading an interview with Tony, and Steve Addington. Apparently, some breaker popped that isn't needed while the EFI is operating...but, the EFI won't refire once it has been switched off. Everyone interviewed professed not to know what the breaker is for, or why the EFI won't start after it has tripped.

Well, I've been out of the country (in New Zealand) for the last three weeks without access to my yahoo account. I'm managed to hold on to 5th place after 3 weeks of inattentiveness. My DVR taped the Martinsville race, but I missed bristol and fontana.

How come there's been no chatter while I've been away?

I didn't get to change my roster this week, but I shuffled some of my starters....feeling good anyway.

I'm coming to take my 4th place back Cy!
