Not sure if this is the best place to list this but can anyone recommend a company that offer's uninflatted rates for racers? My wife and I just had a baby and I want to make sure they are taken care of if something happens but all the companies I contact are thru the roof as soon as they know I race....Any help would be appreciated!

In for this as well... I'm covered for racing currently, but man it's not cheap!

I had great success with Steve Goldin in Coral Gables. He has a racing background and has an easy time dealing with the underwriters on slow, low horsepower cars like ours. The last telephone I had for him was 786-338-7002.

He got me so much life insurance that my wife signs me up for races now. :scratchchin:

A second vote for Steve Goldin. Though I never purchased the insurance, he was very professional and knowledgeable.

I wouldn't be racing (per wife's orders) without Steve Goldin and his service. The question most insurance companies ask starts with 'Have you ever...' versus 'Are you now....'. This means that even if you quit racing you are still considered high risk in their eyes. The lack of affordable life insurance almost killed my racing career (haha) before it started.

I have honestly never really given this any thought... Is there likely to be some type of exclusion for Club Racing in my employer paid life insurance? Or is this if you are buying some type of term life policy?

Brian, i would have to review the policy, but ,I doubt that there is an exclusion. I have been able to place individual coverage for a fellow racer with prefered rates based on the horsepower and number of races he does...every insurance carrier is different though..

That means term life for me would be dirt cheap, based on my motor's "strong" showing @ MSRH

I'm covered if I die racing but that coverage costs me an additional $500/year on an $800K policy. If I stop racing, the added premium goes away.

I could not, however, get disability insurance that included racing.

After a couple of months working up a policy my agent told me that I would be rated for being a race driver. I told him Thanks but no Thanks! Seeing his commission about to go up in smoke he was back the next day with perferred rates. I had previously gotten info from SCCA about deaths per 100,000 racing miles, average speeds being in the 60-80 mph range and it was the same thing Paul Newman did so it must be pretty safe. The thing to remember is they want your money and you are the customer.

Last I looked my employer-provided life insurance excludes skydiving, bungee jumping, hot air ballooning, and SCUBA diving (wonder how many thousands of people SCUBA dive and don't realize they're not covered???), but makes no mention of racing.

Our disability will cover racing but they take into account at what level you've been doing it and how frequently you do it, in groups of two years going back 6 years, amount of events per year, duration on track at each event and top speed. They even ask what type and make/model you race or if it's purpose built. The worst it can be is a 30 day wait for benefits, the other option is a is two week wait. A friend at work has been battling stage 4 cancer for a bout 3 years now and he still can get the 30 day. Everyone here can at least get 30.

Our medical will cover it too as long as it's not "professional sports".

When I was diving access to those that sold them were available through PADI or NAUI or even your local dive shop. The guys I used made it clear that your insurance might not cover you. And conveniently , they knew someone that could. ;)

My Friends Life insurance is a contract between an insurance policy holder and an insurer, where the insurer promises to pay a designated beneficiary a sum of money (the "benefits") upon the death of the insured person. Depending on the contract, other events such as terminal illness or critical illness may also trigger payment.

Hi Steve D,

I know it's an old thread but I thought I'd check in to learn if you're still in touch with Steve Goldin?

Hi Steve D,

I continue to receive bills for my policy and continue to pay them, if that's what you mean.

I haven't had any reason to contact Steve lately but I continue to be a happy customer.

Okay, I'll agree that I wasn't specific.

Steve, I would like to speak with Steve Goldin about a potential policy.  Do you (or any of his other happy clients) have his current contact information to share?  If you'd please PM me with it, I'd greatly appreciate it.  My current insurance carrier must think I'm racing in GT1 given their exorbitant rates (or they've seen my in-car videos...)
