This new post clarifies and elaborates on some information which was discussed a bit in the Oregon Tire thread, so please bear with me. There will be a Toyo/AIM contingency available to any Spec Miata racer in both SCCA Oregon, SCCA Northwest Region and ICSCC who enters Club Spec Miata (CSM). This class is spec'd to RA-1s or R888's and all cars must have the Toyo decals affixed to both front fenders. A minimum of 5 entries in CSM must exist for the contingency to kick in. CSM within SCCA Oregon or SCCA NWR does not have an engine claiming provision as does ICSCC (Conference) CSM. While there have been very few entries in the past few years in CSM, maybe this makes sense for those who still have good Toyo's or who are on a very tight budget and don't want to purchase new Hoosiers at this time. Of course, the contingency awards are $$'s applied to new Toyos. I would anticipate at least 5 or more CSM entries for the race in April at The Ridge (pending SCCA track certification).

Details of the contingency award may be obtained from Garth at AandT in Portland, Ron Cortez at A.I.M. in Sonoma, CA or shoot me an email at wbonsell at comcast dot net and I will forward you the contingency document I received from Ron at AIM in Sonoma, CA. For those of you who know Jeff Clark, you can also contact him for additional information. Regardless of what tire you find yourself on this year, have a great year and here's to faster lap times for all of us.

Bill,

Thanks for all the hard work you've put into this!

Since Oregon Region CSM rules reference conference rules (minus engine claiming rule which can't be enforced in SCCA), we picked up the Toyo contingency in Oregon Region CSM (Conference Spec Miata) by default once AIM/Toyo relaxed their rules about requiring all cars in the run-group to run Toyo. See http://icscc.com/ref...11_complete.pdf for rules on CSM. Looking forward to see a resurgence in CSM in Oregon Region as the result of this new contingency!

I have an opinion so I must be right
