Is there a need for that wide $28 seal at the top of the bumper cover in a race car? Mine didn't survive the previous 17 years of use. I could make one out of an old inner tube rather than spend the $ if it does, but I'd rather use the time for something else if it doesn't.
Rubber seal in the bumper...necessary?

The piece that goes from the bumper cover to the top of the radiator? I think that's an important one....but I've seen them made of other things.

Not that one. Theres a rubber strip about the same size that goes inside the bumper cover behind the turn signals, held in place by the 4' long metal strip at the very top edge. You can't really see it with the bumper cover on. I didn't even know it existed until I took the bumper off
