The '94+ differential gear ratio is clarified. Was that the reason for the post?

Pam is the CRB secretary and posts the latest fastbacks, etc. on all the various sites. Sometimes there is nothing that applies to a particular class.

I like reading them anyway even if there is nothing for SM. I appreciate the heads up either here or via mail.

Here is new wording on qualifying for the Runoffs, as published in the minutes of the BoD conference call. This came as a result of a proposal brought to the CRB at the convention, by Mike Collins. What it means, for SM and SRF drivers is:
The old rule said "if 100 drivers scored points in National Races" and the new rule says "if 100 drivers entered National races"..... the top 50 would be invited. So, we now count all drivers, not just the ones who scored points. You still can't be invited if you score Zero points, but the point total, for an invitation, will be considerably lower. You can do the math.
Thanks to Meathead for presenting it and thanks to the BoD for including the proposal in their special meeting.
Proposed Change:
Any driver who scores points in top 50% of National point standings (3.9.3) for entrants in his class. Example: If 100 drivers enter National races in the current race season, the top 50, who score any points, will receive an invitation.

That's a good step, best so far. I still think a cap on the class feature race is the most inclusive with a percentage of pole speed as an additional qualifier. You show up knowing you might not make the show, but it's open to all national drivers that have raced that year not just those with points. While these sorts of rules limit car counts to manageable less than historical records, it still doesn't solve the problem of club racing's "big one", which is much if not most of the time at the front and has nothing to do with the back markers. Last year parking a guy was a good step and I think if that starts happening to a few others that the issue of carnage will fix itself.
I think the most positive thing is people are taking action and thinking about solutions. The issue I see is that I haven't seen anything official from national defining whatever problem this is supposed to address and the result has been a diminished car count in the most popular class in the nation.

Any changes in the Runoffs invitation process usually affects only two classes, SM and SRF, and even those classes are not affected in all divisions. The rest of the classes, except FV in a few divisions, everyone who finishes four races is pretty much guaranteed an invitation.
This change may entice some drives to run a race or two out of division, to gather some points to qualify. I hope so. At any rate, the CRB and BoD supported that change and it is now official.
