First, let me start by saying I've always wanted to do road course sessions, but cost has always been prohibitive. I recently found a track (12 miles from my apartment) that lets you run for $25/20 minute session! It's more of a driving school than a normal "club" style track.

I immediately went out and bought a Miata because, let's face it, they are lightweight and cheap! I bought the car last week (03 Silver 58k miles), and I just had my first track day today. This is the first time I've ever been around a track, so go easy -- but I did set up the GoPro!

NOTE: The track is not bumpy, I just forgot to tighten the camera mount :(

Right now my car is bone stock (I even have the spare tire in the back!). I plan to keep it this way for at least a few sessions. I wanted to get your advice on mod order. I am going to follow SM guidelines so that if I want to race, I can.

I was thinking, in this order:

1) 15x7 13# wheels, and some Star Specs, or Kumho XSs,
2) SM suspension kit (springs, shocks, sways I think?)

Drive it in this set-up for the rest of 2012, or at least until it gets cold, then:

3) Tear everything out of the interior -- cage, seat, steering wheel, harness, etc.
4) RA1s
5) ???

Suspension, wheels and RA1's!! (I assume your have a roll bar for now with harness bar...find a seat and at least 4 point.) Drive to the track with the wheels it came with...we used to get 3 wheels in the passenger seat and 1 in the trunk...then change at the track. Or you can always hook up with someone who has room to bring your stuff :D Have fun!

I put all 4 in the trunk plus jack and other stuff. Leavs room in pass seat for gear and cooler. Would drive 5 hours to Little Tallegada and back. Gas milage sux :)
