The throttle position sensor on my '99 isn't giving me accurate data on my Traqmate. At rest everything seems fine but it is producing graduated lines when used on track, as if the voltage is slowly rising and receding. I have included a 1000 ohm resistor in line with the signal wire as recommended in an older thread. Should I remove the resistor or is there some other problem? Traqmate setup is straight forward, .16v = 0, 3.4v =100. This is the range I get, engine off. Here's a pic of the graph:

On my 99 removing the resister put the car into limp mode. I have the same variation as you with my stock TPS into my AIM system. I've just learned to live with the noise. Since there is no variation with the car not running I suspect the variation is from the alternator output voltage changing.

I don't have a Traqmate so this is a bit of a guess, but have you checked that the software isn't applying a smoothing filter / rate of change filter to this input/variable?

Filter was on high. Traqmate is new to me. Looks perfect now with no filter. Thanks for the kick Chris!

Velocity - Filter = Low
TPS - Filter = None
Need to raise voltage at 100% a bit to see top of graph.

The downside/risk of over filtering. I always like to look at data without any filtering to start with and then filter if desired. Glad you found the issue!

Which color wire was tapped and where? No resistor, correct?

TPS is on front of intake manifold, drivers side.
Lt Green/Black stripe.
Add 1,000 ohm resistor, in line.
Connect to analog input on Traqmate.
Turn key on, observe max voltage at full throttle.
Set low voltage at 0, high voltage a couple of 1/10's higher than max voltage observed.
Set scale to PCT
No filter in software.
I use shielded cable for all sensor wiring.
