Right under the mirror works for me.
Yep, perfect for a level 'jacking'

Just bought a Spec-Miata - want to put it up and do some chores underneath, plus change wheels.
Where are the recommended jacking points for lifting it up and where do you put the jack stands?
Thanks for the info in advance!
I have a 1990 & I jack it up mid door on the pinch rail (the approx 1 inch vertical deal under the rocker panel). I put two jack stands under each pinch rail. If your on un-even surface the car may sit on only three jack stands.
I did notice your occupation. We both have the same occupation.
Just dont booger up teh pinch weld close to either wheel or making ride height measurements will be a B!tch! Yes you can pick another point to measure RH but the members here will critique you measurement endlessly LOL

Lifting from the crossmember and the diff isn't as easy once the car is lowered to SM ride height, especially if the front air dam is installed. The pinch welds under the mirrors will get bent over time from jacking at the sides. Some people have described putting a notch in a hockey puck to put on the jack to prevent bending the pinch welds. It's a race car. I don't care about some bending at the jack points.

- Or you could have a Race Engineering cage installed with a lift point connected to the cage

1/4" clearance all the way around !So long as said lift point does not touch the car in any way. That would be considered an additional attachment point.
