1.6L SM....Hoosiers or Toyo opinion?

I went through one set of hoosiers.......and so far I've been faster on the toyo's than the hoosiers.
I'm pretty sure toyos will be cheaper to run, but I'm trying to figure out if hoosiers can be driven faster than the toyos for a 1.6L car.
The tracks I run on are NJMP, LRP, and WGI mostly.
On a related note...does anyone know if the regional races up here in the NE are going to specify a tire? Only a few regional races I have been in have set out a tire in the supps for SM.
Thanks,
Vick

You need to learn how to drive the Hoosier at the limits IMHO It is a learning curve!I'll admit I'm a mid pack guy, but I'm trying to figure out which tires to go with for my 1.6L miata.

Maybe I'll burn through my toyo bucks and then go for another set of hoosiers and see how I do with them.

Not to be meant as critical, they are just a "different" tire that takes a LOT more latteral forces. You have to relearn what the limit is. Yes they are generally slower because of the "grip" if you are not at the limit.Glenn I'll always take honesty.....just an expensive learning curve!

I would say the "general" answer is yes. Danny has tested them extensivly at Road Atlanta. Search some of his previous comments Generally greater rolling resistance. Have not done any back to back testing this year with a hot shoe in the seat, but history generally repeats its selfGlenn, is the 1.6 straightaway speed impacted when usig Hoosiers? Ref. any short track you have tested on & then think in terms of Road America where there are 3 long ones.

If you run SM in NASA the 2012 contingency program will make Toyo's a lot cheaper.
