How important is it? Anyone done any intake temp research with it blocked, stock, or "widened"?

COME ON BABOOON
Satire is primarily a literary genre or form, although in practice it can also be found in the graphic and performing arts. In satire, vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, and society itself, into improvement.[1] Although satire is usually meant to be funny, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using wit as a weapon.

That was a teched item in the past. "headlight doors must be flush with the hood". Does not take much to induce alittle cool air to the intake with a little lean on the hood.

Contact Steve Scheifler, owner of the other site. He has completed some temp probe studies.
You do bring up a topic that questions SCCA legality of the NA headlight cover to hood gap. Before I go further the usual suspects will come on with their, REALLY, GET SERIOUS, YOUR KILLEN ME, WENNIE PROTEST but let er fly anyway because it's always interesting.
Number one, I thought a year or so ago SCCA tech was going to measure the gap to FSM specs/to some spec.
Number two, by my understanding of the SCCA rules removing the under hood 90* plastic piece that is attached to the hood behind the headlight is illegal. Rule g. The plastic trim on the hood may be removed. GCR Glossary definition of Trim. Coverings or attachments whose only function is solely cosmetic. This under hood cosmetic is only viewable for the under hood BABOONS.

I would dispute this. The only function I can see for these [actually four pieces] is to hide the engine compartment from view; without them in place, you can actually see through the gaps into the engine bay. I cannot imagine what function they could serve beyond that.
It might clean up the air passing over the hood to have them aligned and gapped, but I have no idea how little aero touches like that might impact a Miata.

I'll ask Steve, thanks David. I'm not plotting a protest, just curious since tech sometimes makes a deal out of it.

That's why hoods open in impound is so important. While you're looking at people's motors "to see if it's legal" you lean on their headlight covers a little bit so you have something to protest.

Mine is flush. I hate the look of it when its folded.
Glen was making everyone at the NASA Champs bend their covers flush.

Dewhurst, it's killin', with an "i" not an "e".
You're welcome.....
Doesn't take much to jerk the usual suspects chain.
