Had a great time at the SAARC/MARRS shootout @ VIR this weekend. I am usually a NASA mid-pack guy, but manage to to an SCCA race or two a year, and this one my favorite, with 51 SM and 25 or so SSM cars.
Anyway, while battling for a coveted 23rd spot (or so), hot on the bumper of a red 99 coming out of Oak Tree, while attempting to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear (which has become an ever increasing issue of its own), I instead mange to find 1st gear for a split second. After continuing down the back straight, I begin to notice that the motor feels a little flat. Finish the race (1 more lap), but down on power, but no change in oil pressure, h2o temp. No smoke, no noises. Check compression afterwards, 210-215 on all 4. On the dyno, power is down about 6hp on 1st run, another 8 on 2nd run, so shut it off.
What did I most likely screw up in the motor. Thinking rod bearing(s), but I am nowhere near a mechanical wiz on such things. It is at Mike Rossini's for him to take apart, but was just wondering how bad the damage ($$$) might be.
Thanks,
Dave
