And you keep using yours, in the dirt that is When you or Alex( or anyone else) passes me from the entrance of one, to the exit of seven, I will change to their line.. So far I'm still waiting.Jim
Thrilled that you like that line - in fact I recommend you keep on using it.
We are racing, not running time trials or segment times. There is far more to racing than segment times, lines, corner entry and lap times. T1 is the WORST place to push your car , lap after lap, long sustained loads on tires, means less tires at the end when you REALLY need them. Fortunately for me, I did not need to do that, Danny had little choice. As long I as I was in contact with Cliff at 7, it really didn't matter what happened from 1-7. So to use up tires in one to stay on his bumper would be silly. When I took the lead, I pushed everywhere trying to break away, but not until.
All ball busting aside, when driven 10/10 you may lose a little from 1-3 with distance with my line, but the transition to three is much easier the way I do it, corner exit is better and it makes the next corner easier for "me" to drive and not make mistakes.. SM is about your fastest 18 laps, not your fastest lap, not your fastest segment and not your fastest corner. Everyone is different, but taking three the way I do, eliminates mistakes for "me" and my goal is to do all in my power to win, consistency wins. This helps "me" be consistent. I would prefer to lose .1 in that segment every lap, than risk an off or mistake that costs me a second plus when I can't afford it and no time to make it up. I drill it into all my friends and customers, any that will listen, SM is about your fastest 18 laps. Same goes for guys who race every corner etc, IMO, that is pretty stupid.. Do what you can to increase your odds of winning, thin the herd, race as few as possible at the end. If that means you stay second or third when you can lead, stay second or third and get away from third, fourth and the rest.
OK, that' s my 2 minute ball busting and race strategy session.. I am leaving for vacation, so I will try and check in on the road. Have a good week guys
