Mother Nature provided great weather this weekend giving us our first dry race weekend at MPH. Friday started off hot and windy with sand blasting of any standing object. NASA Central region treated the race group to a combined class and 4 races with an abundance of track time and fun.
Saturday
Saturday turned out to be beautiful weather with plentiful sunshine and cool temperatures. Joel Karns' #74 Spec Miata was ready for the weekend. Unfortunately the car had some teething problems as it developed an oil leak at the front crank seal, and various transmission issues including the loss of 2nd and 3rd gears put it out of action for most of the weekend.
Sunday
Sunday the Spec Miata field grew to 3 cars as Warren and Dillion Dexter came back in town and Leal Cleland were able to race. Sunday's Race 1 was a nail biter with Dillion leading the class until a NASCAR inspired competition caution came out to bunch up the field. Dillion and Warren raced hard but Cleland was able to take the win. Race 2 was another twist with an inverted start for the entire field based on finishing result in Race 1. Warren was able to pull out a win over Leal with some impressive driving. Warren and Dillion's father who piloted a PTC RX8 was able to pull out the overall win beating out AIX and GTS2 cars.
New Lap Record
Warren Dexter broke the SM lap record on Sunday running a 1:44:111
