I haven't been racing much due to work and the 3 day schedules in my region. Withdrawal from not racing makes me jittery so I was looking for something to do on the car this weekend and remembered that I have been meaning to override the clutch switch. I find it annoying to have to depress the clutch whenever I want to start the car. Especially since I use a small electric compressor to fill my tires so I have to do that regularly all weekend at the track.

It took me about 30 minutes of searching the interwebs looking for a how to. Found a bunch of useless info and also found that Flyin Miata sells a work around for $7.95 plus shipping. I eventually found the info that I was looking for and did it. Probably took me less than 10 minutes to do this. I figured I'd do a write-up to hopefully save the next guy the 30 minutes I wasted trying to figure this out.

Write up of this How to procedure is on my blog here:

Cheers.

Be careful you leave it in neutral...I watched a friend start his car in pre-grid before getting in and it was pretty comical watching him stop the car from lurching forward all the way to the K-wall and then get it back into his assigned space.

I just pulled the switch, cut the wires and crimped them together. Teach yourself the habit of shacking the shifter to make sure it's in neutral before turning the key.
